You will use everything you have learned on this region of the world up to this point to determine and conclude if basic rights in this region of the world are allowed, recognized, and celebrated.

1. Begin this lesson activity by investigating each human right at the link below to gain a more developed understanding of the basic human rights.

2. Go to Google Earth, and follow the directions below.

• In the search box, type in the world "Middle East."
• Find the subtopic topic on the bottom left that says "Layers," and click on it.
• Locate and click on the heading titled "Global Awareness."
• Lastly, find the subsection titled: "The Elders, Every Human has Rights."

3. Answer the connection questions on basic human rights in this region below.

• Are there any basic human rights being denied to people in any countries or regions of North Africa and Southwest Asia? Where do you think this is occurring?
• What basic rights do you think are being denied to some people and populations living in North Africa and Southwest Asia?
• Do you feel like the rest of the world is doing anything to help these people and populations to gain these rights back? What do you think is or should be done?
• What do you think is the main reason or reasons that some people in North Africa and Southwest Asia are being denied or neglected of these basic human rights that all people of our world deserve?
