  2. Have the children place the numbers  1-10 in order.
  3. Distribute a ten frame to each child.
  4. Have the children identify the number 7 and 8.
  5. Have the children use counter to show 7 and 8.
  6. Ask: How many spaces the ten frame have? What does it mean when we have the ten frame full? How do you know it is not 7?
  7. Add one more pellet.
  8. Ask: Which group has more 7 or 8? Which group has fewer 7 or 8?
  9. Distribute turtles and 10 counters.
  10. The teacher will tell a story.
  11. Have the children feed the turtle 8 pellets to make a group of 8.
