Budapest, 1st February 1924.

My dear good brother Philip,

Please do not be offended that I am only now replying to your letter, I was unwell and I did not want to tell you, because thank goodness I am now better; also there were no trains to London and this was another reason for my delay. I hope you are not angry with me? You would not even be capable of being angry, because you are very good, and I shall never forget the wonderful time you and dear Lucy gave me in your beautiful home; once again, my grateful thanks.

How are you otherwise, Philip? You work a great deal; are the two siblings dressed in yellow and the other picture finished? How is dear little Csállika?^[1] - How he used to say “Tante Szerén”!

I am now letting you know that we have already bought the three gravestones, i.e the ones for the late Rózsa,^[2] my dear little Jancsi^[3] and [illegible words]; I have given them the inscription. If you like I shall send it to you, and they will be erected at the beginning of March or April; I have already obtained the permit. If your time allows you will come to Pest for the consecration, won’t you – but I would ask you please to let me know 14 days in advance, because it has to be announced. Thank you so very much for the £30 you sent, I can never be grateful enough.

Sándor^[4] and Renée were in Pest at Christmas, they are very well; the [illegible] picture which I had meant for Ilonka^[5] I have given to Renée and I have had it framed.

Ilonka, Elza^[6] and the children are very well. Elza is expecting another child during the spring. Now dear Philip once again – my grateful thanks; if your time allows please write.

Gyula^[7] is better and sends his best regards.
