Archery - 6th & 7th Grade

The Arkansas National Archery in the Schools Program is part of the National Archery in the Schools Program. Archery is a great way to sharpen skills, build self-esteem, and create a stronger atmosphere for success in the classroom. The Bryant Middle School Archery Team consists of 24 archers who compete in archery tournaments. The students learn archery skills, as well as an outdoor hobby they may enjoy for the rest of their lives.

Basketball - 7th Grade Boys  

The Bryant Middle School basketball program is designed to teach the skills and fundamentals of basketball while teaching responsibility, accountability, sportsmanship, teamwork and self discipline.

Beginning Band - 6th Grade

Students may choose beginning band as they enter 6th grade. Students learn how to play a band instrument starting from the very beginning. This is a year long class and requires the parent to secure an instrument for their child. Musicians participate in two evening concerts during the year and one to two concerts during the school day.

BMS H.E.A.T. - 6th & 7th Grade

BMS H.E.A.T. (Hornet Engineering and Technology) seek to increase student interest and involvement in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) by engaging students in hands-on sustainable and affordable curriculum-based robotics engineering programs taught across the U.S. and internationally. Students use the VEX Robotics® platform to design, build, and program the robot. Classroom STEM concepts are put to the test as students learn lifelong skills in teamwork, leadership, communications, and more in robotic tournaments that are held year-round at the regional, state, and national levels.

Cheer - 7th Grade

The Bryant Middle School cheer program is responsible for building spirit and pride in the school and community. The cheerleader’s duties include leading the crowd at ballgames, participating in community events, and performing in cheer competitions. The season begins in August and ends in February. Tryouts are held in March for the following year.

Beginning cheer skills will be taught for 7th grade students. In 8th grade, cheer students work toward advancing those skills.

Chess - 6th & 7th Grade

The purpose of BMS Chess Club is to provide an opportunity for fun, recreational chess, develop students' self-confidence, mental focus, logic, discipline, and analytical abilities, develop students' sportsmanship, provide an opportunity to excel in tournament competitions, and teach the rules, vocabulary, history, and culture of the world's oldest sport, chess.

Choir - 6th & 7th Grade

Choir is open to all students at Bryant Middle School. Students will focus on healthy vocal technique, music fundamentals, music history, sight-reading, rehearsal of music, competitions, and performances.  Students will also learn to work cooperatively, develop self-discipline, and will learn and demonstrate proper performance and concert etiquette.

Cross Country/Track - 7th Grade

Cross Country is a long distance running sport that competes in the fall. Focus is on endurance, running form and team sportsmanship. Tryouts for Cross Country take place in May for the following school year.

Track is a spring sport and encompasses all the events of high school track but on a beginning level.  Track also has tryouts in May for the next school year.

Dance - 7th Grade

FCCLA - 7th Grade

FCCLA is the club associated with FCSI and other Family Consumer Science classes offered at the high school. FCCLA is a service organization for students 7th-12th grade. Students in FCCLA are able to compete at district, state and national STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) Events against other students in their age group.

FBLA: Future Business Leaders of America (Grades 6-8)

FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) is a club open to 6th and 7th grade students at Bryant Middle School. FBLA provides business leaders of tomorrow with the necessary skills to successfully compete in the job market, pursue post-secondary education, or manage personal and leadership skills. Students gain an appreciation of business and the free enterprise system through a variety of leadership programs, community service projects, and educational activities.

Football - 7th Grade 

The Bryant Middle Football Program is designed to teach the fundamentals of football and while also teaching responsibility, honesty, sportsmanship, teamwork and self discipline.  Players will be expected to participate in practices and summer workouts where they will learn the importance of fitness for the game and for life.

Quiz Bowl - 6th & 7th Grade

Quiz Bowl is an academic competition for students with superior knowledge in English, history, the sciences and mathematics, as well as pop culture, sports and current events. Quiz Bowl competes from September through March at weekend invitationals around central Arkansas. Team members are expected to keep a clean academic and behavioral record and participate in weekly after-school practices.

Student Council - 6th & 7th Grade

Bryant Middle School Student Council is a service organization comprised of members elected by their peers. The elections take part the first month of school. Each grade has four representatives with 8th grade electing six to fill the president and vice-president positions.  Members conduct and participate in many altruistic projects that benefit the school and community. Student Council members are expected to be leaders in the school and will help lead school activities, such as the morning pledge, act as hosts for school visitors, etc. Members attend meetings on club days and after school. The students service projects include a Thanksgiving canned food drive, Stuff the Sleigh, Relay for Life, Teacher Appreciation, the Hornet Supply Store, and many more. Students gain an appreciation for their school and community while learning empathy and teamwork.

Volleyball 

7th Grade

Beginning volleyball skills will be taught during this fall sport.

The Bryant Middle School volleyball program is designed to teach the skills and fundamentals of volleyball while teaching responsibility, accountability, sportsmanship, teamwork and self discipline.

Yearbook - 6th & 7th Grade

Yearbook is an introductory course to publication and journalism skills with a competitive aspect. In this 21st century, cross curricular, project-based class, students work collaboratively by using technology such as digital cameras and online design software to digitally produce a yearbook. Students use writing skills, communication skills and creativity to tell the story of the school community and peers in an engaging way. Students demonstrate knowledge of graphic design and think creatively when organizing information within the yearbook. Yearbook staff is selected based on an application process from the previous school year.
