Rise Against Hunger - Guess what happens on March 31. It’s meal packing time again! We need many volunteers so make sure to mark your calendars and plan to join in the fun while we do our part to help end world hunger. We start following worship and are usually finished about 11:30 and then continue the fun and fellowship over lunch. We have contracted to do 15,000 meals again. The yellow donation envelopes to help offset the cost of the materials are located in the pew racks. Checks should be made payable to Otterbein with Rise Against Hunger in the memo line. Please prayerfully consider your part in helping Otterbein to be a blessing to those in need.

Sign up sheets are located on the bulletin boards by the office and room 8. REMINDER - please sign BOTH the sign up sheet AND THE WAIVER FORM NEXT TO IT. This will save time for committee members and ease traffic flow on March 31. Also remember to sign up for the luncheon if you plan to stay.

Missions Updates and Opportunities

The Missions Committee wants to extend it thanks and appreciation for all your support and special efforts during the past year. Your monetary support, donations of needed clothing, hats, scarves, gloves, personal hygiene items and volunteer time have benefitted not only our local community, but the greater National and Global efforts supported by Otterbein United Methodist Church. Your willingness to share your blessings with others is a great example of how working together can accomplish great things.

As we move forward in 2019, the Missions Committee would like to hear from you! We urge you to share your thoughts, engage with us and reach out to others. Help us unite and advance the great mission opportunities that exist within our community. Do you have some special community projects or local organizations that you think Otterbein can help to support? What is important to you as a member of Otterbein? Can we do more in our local community?

Please speak to one of our Committee Members to share your thoughts and hopefully volunteer with us. We are currently looking for more Members and hope that you will prayerfully consider joining us. You are encouraged to attend one of our monthly meetings. In 2019, Mission Meetings will be held the fourth Tuesday of every month at 7 pm in the Library.

Fun Missions Facts….Did you know that throughout the year Otterbein provides financial support for these very important mission opportunities and efforts? They include: UMCOR, Mission Central, United Methodist Home for Children, Helping Haiti Heal, One Great Hour of Sharing, Human Relations Sunday, Outdoor Christian Education, United Methodist Student Day, World Communion Sunday, Project SHARE, Samaritan Fellowship, Safe Harbour, Community CARES and the Salvation Army.

And don’t forget that we also supply monthly support to the Missionary Work conducted by: Red Bird Mission, Kentucky, McCurdy Ministries/School, New Mexico, Deidre Zimmerman- Nepal and Lisa Nichols- Henry Fork Center, Virginia.

Please review and plan to participate in a few of the following upcoming Mission Opportunities. Imagine yourself getting directly involved by sharing your skills, knowledge and the love of God with others in need. You will be meeting new people from various walks of life, some from other churches but all who feel a calling to take action and do something. Please note that on the Tangier Island trip, Otterbein will be only a small part of a multi-denominational mission experience. Please see which of these might be right for you! If you can’t decide which trip to choose, maybe you can participate in more than one.
