Conventions I used | - Long shots to show characters’ costumes (creates emphasis on artist)
- CUs to show the cheerful and upbeat emotions of characters – also reflect the words of the song with the movement of the lips of the artist
- Used mise-en-scene to put the importance of the representation of something. E.g. characters playing in the park show that they are upbeat, cheerful, laid-back and enjoy having fun
- Jump cuts were used to keep the video succinct and flowing
- Video was edited to the beat of the music to make it look more complete and establish a relationship between the audio and visuals
Conventions of Pop - Bright and colourful location and editing to make the audience happy
- ECUs to show the purity and innocence in the personality of the artists
- Aimed at teenagers/young adults – using characters the audience can relate to
- Consistently upbeat and cheery to appeal to the target audience
| - Gatefold in the middle like a book, with a spine with the album and artist name
- Theme of inside packaging is more subtle to draw attention to outside packaging
- Front of pop cover has image of Max and Jak taken from the music video
- Artist name is larger than the album name
- Back cover has barcode, record label, tracklist and copyright
| - Release date so that the audience know when they are able to start purchasing the album
- Album title so that the audience know what the album is called and so will be easier to find and purchase
- Where it is available to purchase so that the audience know where they will be able to buy it from
- Record label because knowing which record label they are signed to gives the audience an idea of what kind of music is being played
- Website URL so the audience can find out more about the artist

Conventions I broke | - Represented my male artists as being very camp, feminine, not particularly a huge amount of power
- Tried to eliminate the patriarchal society by representing both genders equally and showing everybody as having their own individual personality
- Tried to combine performance and concept music video by having 50% real-life filmed elements and 50% cartoon edited elements
| With digipacks, the conventions tend to be fairly generic in terms of the components of the product but is very varied when it comes to the actual design. I tried to make my digipak unique and interesting by using a design I hadn’t seen anything similar to. For example I used the large sun from my music video to write the track names in. | - I decided not to have an image of the album on my advert because it was too similar to the advert and so did not stand out enough to justify it – the theme of the advert was enough to convey the general look of the album
