What does that mean?

ITS - The International Thespian Society is an honor society for students of theatre.  Students must complete 100 hours of theatre and have a minimum weighted GPA of 3.0 for membership.

ITF - The International Thespian Festival is held each summer at Indiana University Bloomington.  Students who qualify at their state festival are eligible to present at the festival in hopes of winning a coveted “Thespy” award (think Grammy award for high school theatre.)

Libretto - the script, often rented from the publisher.

Tech Week - This is the week before opening week and is the time that we try to put all of the technical elements with the show.  These rehearsals typically last until 8 or 8:30 each evening and are fairly stressful.  In some theatre companies this might be referred to as “hell week.”  I try to minimize the “ugh” of it all as much as possible.

Q2Q (actually Cue-to-Cue) - This is the longest rehearsal of the production.  This day is devoted to the technical transitions of the show.  Lighting Cues, Sound Cues, Set Cues….if there is a cue, we rehearse it!

Dress Rehearsals - Everything but the audience, in real time, with no stopping.  We usually do 2 full dress rehearsals.

Strike - Tear it down!  Strike is required of ALL cast and crew members.  We take down the set, launder and store costumes, put away props, and get everything back in order so that we can move on quickly to the next production.  Cast and crew members who intentionally skip strike don’t just deal with the director, they have to face their peers who take this responsibility very seriously!
