Background

The Green party currently has four City Councillors in Sheffield and recently came second in one of the five Sheffield Constituency Seats at the General Election.  2016 sees an ‘all-out’ Council election in Sheffield, and Sheffield Green Party has ambitions to see a significant growth in the number of elected Members on the Council.

Sheffield & Rotherham Green Party (SRGP) has seen a trebling in its membership in the past year and a move to using NationBuilder as our digital platform for managing membership and canvassing data.  As a result we have a largely untapped pool of potential resource and an excellent tool to engage with members.  We now wish to recruit a manager who will help develop and execute the membership and volunteer engagement strategies and plans.

Job purpose

Your role is to develop and lead a plan that will help SRGP succeed. You are responsible for engaging and mobilising volunteers to help us to deliver this plan.  Your initial focus will be on co-developing a volunteer engagement plan based on the needs of the Party so that we can achieve our ambitious goals.

You will engage, inspire and retain volunteers. You will lead a needs assessment and establish teams to carry forward SRGP’s work.

You will support these activities through using our digital platform and will be a champion for it, including training Officers/Leads in the organisation.  You will seek ways to mentor and empower Officers and Active Members and act as an expert in your area of responsibility.

You are a self-starter, confident at holding your own in a changing organisation.  You enjoy working with a broad range of people to research what is required and then seeing the job through to the end to ensure that solutions are delivered using your proven project management skills.  You can demonstrate your excellent communication skills across a range of media and styles.  You will be at home using digital solutions including using a CRM or similar to manage and interrogate data about individuals.  You will be able to set your own priorities and to ask for help when needed.

You can demonstrate your commitment to the values of the Green Party.
