‘Preparing each child for their future in an ever-changing world’
CARE - COURAGE - RESPECT - RESPONSIBILITY
NEWSLETTER 4 30th September 2016
From the Headteacher
I have been pleased to see that so many parents from Year 1 to Year 6 (and some Reception!) are dropping their children off at the door and allowing them to come into school independently. The children are settling very quickly and are enjoying a smooth, productive start to the day - thank you for your support.
I have also been delighted to see some lovely play times recently with the older children playing very nicely with the younger ones.
Thanks go to Jess in Year 5 who held a cake sale at her Mum’s work and raised £55 for School funds. Jess was keen to keep the school environment tidy and decided that we should buy some litter pickers, these have been in regular use at lunch-times this week and the outside space is much nicer as a result - Well Done Jess!
Nut Allergies in School - Packed Lunch Advice
Please be aware that we have a number of children in school with severe nut allergies and as a result we must insist that packed lunches do not contain ANY nut, or nut-based products. This includes peanut butter, nutella, cereal bars that may contain nuts etc.
Unfortunately these allergies can be triggered by simply being in the vicinity of a nut product, not just direct contact and we therefore ask for your co-operation in this matter.
Will be held on Tuesday 18th and Wednesday 19th October from 3.30 - 7.00pm, details can be found here.
Free School Meals - are you eligible?
Under the current criteria, children who receive, or whose parents receive, one or more of the following support payments are entitled to receive free school meals (FSM).
· Income Support
· income-based Jobseekers Allowance
· income-related Employment and Support Allowance
· support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
· the guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
· Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
If a child is eligible for FSM it also means that the school will be entitled to a small grant which we use to enhance the children’s education.
If you think you are eligible please speak to Zoe in the School Office and she will be happy to assist.
School Census Day - School Lunches
We have a statutory requirement to provide the Government with a number of statistics about the school and census day this term falls on Thursday 6th October.
The amount of children having school lunches on that day determines our funding for the coming year, so if your child usually has a packed lunch, they might instead like to join us on our ‘HagDonald Treat Day’ we will be serving; ‘Big Hag Burger’, ‘Fully Loaded Hag Cheeseburger’, ‘Hag Dog Digitty Dog’ or ‘Hag Express’ Pizza Margherita with salad and oven chips. Followed by Chocolate Belgian Waffles, Brownie Slice or Fresh fruit
For the next two weeks can be found here
If any of your contact details have changed recently, please contact the School Office so we can keep your records up to date.
Generic Permission Slips
There are a number of permission slips outstanding, most notably from Years 5 & 6, can you please ensure that these are returned to the School Office asap?
