9LE  Services Term 1                    

Issue: We need to make Grey High an even better place in some way- being of service to the Grey High Community.

While doing this we will also increase our learning and skills in Technology.

You will work as an individual or a group of up to 4 people to identify an issue, opportunity or need at Grey High or in the wider community. You will need to identify your Stakeholders and interview them to create a brief and then create a product or service that meets their need.

You will need to research, plan and document your project and keep a learning log of what you do each day to reach your goal.

You need to present your proposal to your teacher by the end of week 3 for approval before you can start your project.  

You will need to complete a budget, timeline, identify the skills, tools and materials you need and any Health and Safety considerations as part of your proposal.

Initial Ideas           - We had an idea to make a rubbish bin with the bigger bottles but we decided it was too hard to get the big bottles as the other groups are using them, our second idea was to make back basketball backboards for the existing bins.    

Skills needed         -         Design abilities, creativeness

Tools Needed         -       Rubbish bin,

Materials needed    -     Plastic Bottles, Craft knife and glue  

Health and Safety Considerations. We have considered the fact that someone could cut themselves on a craft knife.

Budget                             $30

Development of Ideas - We have a lot of different ideas and pictures to show what our final project will look like and what purpose our final project will have.

Final Concept   Our final idea is to make a smaller rubbish bin from the smaller soft drink bottles that the sell at the cafeteria.

We researched ideas and decided we would make basketball hoops to put over recycling bins for the school

Last session we finished search and discussing about what we want to create as our product in services.  We looked far and wide on the WWW and eventually made our choice.

Today we started re going over some parts that we missed on our services folders.   We also worked on our collecting bins and the designs and colour ways.

We cut and painted the the wood to get them ready to put the bottles on them.

We drilled the holes and put bottles on 2 of the boards and are going to finish getting the bottles tomorrow.

We finished our gantt chart and wrote the evaluation. We also collected some bottles.

Make grey high a greater place!

We are constructing bins that will help other classes in services.  We are making these bins for collecting small fizzy drinks.  

These will be used for making new ideas and creative buildings in services 2017.  Hopefully this will work.  

Evaluation

Considering we had to change our idea so much we didn't have the best final product. We ended up making signs to help collect the smaller bottles our teacher needed.
