KEYS
Keys are issued to staff by the building principal or designee. In order to protect property, students, and staff and to ensure the building is adequately secured when no authorized personnel are present, all staff are expected to follow the following key-control procedures:
- The duplication of keys is prohibited. Duplicate keys will be made available upon request through the Operations Director.
- Keys are not to be left unattended. Avoid leaving keys on desks, tables, in mailboxes, unattended coat pockets, etc.
- Keys may not be loaned to students or to individuals not employed by the District. Under no circumstances should staff provide keys to students to “run errands,” “unlock/lock” doors, etc.
- Lost or stolen keys must be reported to the building principal/supervisor and Human Resources Department (at human.resources@hoodriver.k12.or.us) within 24 hours of discovery of the loss or theft so that measures may be taken to protect district property. Three days will be allowed for the finding or recovery of keys before any charges are assessed.
- Charges for lost or stolen keys will be made to the staff member to whom the key(s) has been issued, in the following amounts:
- Room or other keys - $75.00
- Grand Master and Master Key - $150.00
- Electronic cards/Reader cards - $30.00
- School or District re-keying - In the event there is a loss of a key, by personnel, which compromises the safety and security of a particular facility or the district as a whole, and determined a substantial re-keying of locks will be needed, the Operations Director along with District maintenance will provide the recommended actions to address the situation. If the re-keying will be a substantial cost, the Superintendent or designee will provide the schedule of fees to be assessed.
- "Keys and badges are to be picked up at the Operations office. They are not to be sent via courier or delivered due to safety and security reasons."
