Attendance and General Policies:

Students planning to perform in the Winter and Spring Recitals may miss no more than 4 classes during each Fall and Spring semester. Students who have missed more than 4 classes need to speak with Shauni about possible options for still performing in the recital (for example, a private class for a student who missed class due to illness or an extenuating circumstance)
Classes will NOT be prorated due to excessive absence.
In the event of a teacher(s) absence, The Ridge Academy is not responsible for notifying parents of substitutes. In the event of an emergency in which a substitute cannot be found, The Ridge Academy will arrange a make-up class that is convenient for the majority of dancers in the class.
Monthly tuition needs to be paid in full by the 10th of every month. If tuition is not received by then, a $10.00 late fee will be charged per dancer. If tuition plus the late fee is not received by the end of the month the dancer will not be allowed to take class until tuition and late fees are paid up to date.
Withdrawal Policy: If a dancer drops out of a class in the beginning or middle of the month, after tuition has already been paid, the dancer will not receive a refund of that month’s tuition.

Safety:

Dancers need to be accompanied by a parent or caregiver both in and out of the dance studio. There are cement stairs that lead to the studio that small children may need assistance with.
Dancers need to wait in the waiting area to be picked up from class. Dancers are not allowed to wait out in front of the dance studio unaccompanied. The Ridge Academy is not liable for any injury or incident that may occur from not following this policy.
The Ridge Academy is not responsible for any items lost or stolen on the premises.

Class Etiquette:

All dancers are required to follow the dress code specified for each individual dance style. (A more extensive dress code outline may be found on the Studio Policies page at theridgedance.blogspot.com)
Tardiness is disrespectful to the teacher and to the rest of the class. For safety reasons, dancers who miss the warm-up portion of class in the first 10 minutes will only be permitted to watch the rest of class.
Parents should pick their dancers up promptly after class. Please notify the studio if someone else will be picking up your child.
Students should use the restroom before class. By signing this agreement you are permitting teachers at The Ridge Academy to assist children 4 and under or any other students who may need assistance in the restroom in the absence of a parent or guardian.
Please use cubbies provided to store all personal belonging, leaving valuables at home.
No street shoes warn on the dance floor. Dance shoes or barefoot only!
No food or drink in the studio. Water in a closed container is acceptable and encouraged.
Parents are not allowed to observe their dancers during class time. Please drop your students off or wait in the waiting area. (Students learn better when parents/guardians are not watching.)

Waiver: I do hereby release The Ridge Academy of Dance, Shauntell Bird, and all other instructors or students in any capacity for any liabilities due to injuries, etc. that my child may obtain while on the premises of The Ridge Academy of Dance or any special event and/or performances associated with the studio. I clearly understand that participation in any classes offered at The Ridge Academy of Dance will involve dance, bodily exercise, and movement with rigorous activity. I am fully aware of my child’s personal medical condition and hereby certify that they are mentally and physically fit to participate in the classes for which they have registered and that I have the medical coverage or personal means to cover the expenses related to any injury that my child might receive as a result of his/her participation. I also understand that I am responsible for the supervision of my child prior to and after class and that it is not permissible to leave my child unsupervised. The Ridge Academy of Dance reserves the right to use photographs taken in class or at performance-related activities for promotional reasons. Lastly, I understand that dance education at times requires “hands on training” in which an instructor may gently touch a dancer’s body to explain proper alignment, positioning, or engagement of muscles.

By signing this registration form, it is acknowledge that I, the parent/guardian of __________________________ have read the list of Studio Rules and Policies as well as the Release Waiver provided and in understanding my personal responsibilities I hereby give my child permission to participate.
