Turn 9 Recap

Guard 1: After seeing both the Queb killed in one round of combat, and his friend felled, an easy target lying prone on the ground, the remaining standing guard made a run for the Compound.

Daks & Basai - Please make a Difficulty 4 Speed test to get an attack of opportunity as he runs this will not count as your action.

Chase Rules - Difficulty 4 Speed check to “catch” the runner. If you catch, you can also make an Action:Attack.

Note: You may apply the Glow effects to these two Difficulty 4 checks, making the tasks Difficulty 1-3 depending on which of you it is.

Guard 2: uses his action to stand up, all attacks against him this round have an asset to hit.

Daks

Jay Zin was screaming at the fallen guard, threatening to shoot if he moved. Looks like he's got him under control. As the second guard saw his partner and their attack dogs brought down, he made a mad dash for the door. Daks charged after him, but, as he started to run he had to duck below a large swinging arm of granite. Careful! He shouted, as he continued his stride. AOP: 1d20 ⇒ 19 19=+3 Damage for 8 total. Guard1 takes 6 damage

Bent over from ducking under the Diruks arm, Daks saw his opportunity. a gap in the thick metal armor, where the front and back latched together. Rising behind him, Daks let out a yell and thrust the blade deep between the ribs of the guard. The guard shook from the electricity running through the blade.

<Chase - DM Intrusion> Daks scored a piercing blow in the back of the fleeing guard after having dodged the fumble of the Diruk, unfortunately his strike position left him precariously balanced and unaware of the location of the 6ft Queb body beneath him. As he went to chase the guard, he stumbled over the body of the Queb. His gracefulness saved him from ending up flat on the floor, but he was not able to chase the man as he had intended.

Azzuretta came up from her attack against the Queb with a mouth full of fur. She sensed more than saw one of the guards running... well no reason to let him get away. She flapped her wings twice once to be air borne and a second time to change directions to get to the man and lashed out at the man... now staked to the ground...

Azzuretta bites, getting a mouth full of armor for her effort. Guard takes no damage.

Mechanus

Amazed at his new found processing surge, Mechanus looked at the fleeing guard. "He can't get away!"

He quickly pulled forth a numenera contraption, something akin to a strange hand-crossbow. Two shooting guides at one end which had what looked like two hooks tied together by a thin wire.

Mechanus activated it with a loud bang, his shoulder recoiled from the explosion.

The two hooks shot forth and painfully pierced the legs of both guards. The fleeing guard tripped over as the metal wire tensed, partially moving the prone guard.

Breona

Fighting with a group of like-minded companions was such an adrenaline rush. Breona watched in sheer admiration as Mechanus' ray of energy hit both snake creatures and landed the killing blow on both. "That was amazing!" she exclaimed towards the nano with the hint of a smile on her lips, then aimed her crossbow at the remaining foes.

One of the guards started to make a run for it. Mechanus was right, he should not get away. He might alert reinforcements! She operated the trigger of her weapon, hoping another bolt would strike true.

Pierce: 1d20 ⇒ 12 Hits Guard1 for 3 Damage killing him

Jay Zin notices most of his allies focussing on the man running for the door and decides to leave that to them.

well at least no one is asking me questions...

He decides to do his best to deal with the one he had just tripped. He pulls out his crossbow and loads a bolt while taking a five foot step back. Having finished this task, with practiced hands, he finds himself actually waiting for what seems like hours as the man gets back up off the ground in his slow motion state. As the guard finally gets to his knee Jay Zin addresses the man.

I would stop right there if I were you…

When Mechanus’ tether hits the guard it whips him around to see his companion stumble. The drake-creature appears to be biting the man’s foot and he clearly sees blood coming from a wound in the guards’ back. Suddenly a crossbow bolt tears across the room and the man falls down. His fall tugs Guard1 back a few feet as the tether tightens, he has to struggle to maintain his balance. He drops his weapons and raises his hands. “Don’t shoot. I don’t want to die today.” He says as his gaze returns to the bolt aimed at his face.


Turn 10

Combat is over, the remaining guard has surrendered.

If you look around courtyard, you will notice that the hallway above has sounds of battle. You can see through an open balcony that the rebels are making progress.

If you spy down the hallway you will see that about 40ft down, the hallway turns 90 degrees to the right. The hallway ahead looks the same as the hallway you just came through.

Action suggestions: Search bodies, interrogate guard, listen down hallway, look around the courtyard.

Identifying Cyphers:

For cyphers lvl 1-5 - Identification is a lvl 2 Intellect Action

For lvl  6-8  - diff 3 action

For lvl 9+ - diff 4 action

If one person identifies the cypher, the whole group can use it.

Cypher Size:

Anoetic vs Occultic - Anoetic take up 1 Cypher slot, Occultic take up 2 (Corebook p.279)

Looting Cyphers - in your action post tell me what you do. If you trade out or take a new cypher etc. If multiple people want the same one I will roll to determine who gets it.

Maximum # of Cyphers: Characters are allowed to exceed their maximum number of cyphers by 1 cypher, but doing so puts you at a constant disadvantage. -1 Step to any task. (Corebook p.279)
