“It is part of your vocation to shout the Gospel from the rooftops, not by your words, but by your life.”
-Blessed Charles de Foucauld
The students’ progress reports will be sent home on Tuesday, November 1st. Parents and teachers will have the opportunity to discuss the progress their children are making at our interviews which begin at 3:10pm and continue to 8:00pm on Thursday, November 3rd. We are using the youcanbook.me program to book online this year. You can book a 10-minute interview with the teacher of your choice by clicking here. There are still spots available, but they are filling up quickly!
St. Stephen will be having a Scholastic Book Fair November 1-3. On Tuesday, November 1st, and Wednesday November 2nd, from 8:30-11:15am and 12:15-3:00pm, and on Thursday November 3rd, from 8:30-11:15am and 12:15-3:00pm, as well as during interviews from 3:00-8:00pm. Each class will have 30 minutes in Learning Commons to buy items at the Book Fair on one of the three days. The teachers will let the students know when the class will be visiting the Book Fair. There are a variety of books and other items for sale, with a price range similar to the items in the monthly Scholastic flyers. Parents can also visit the Book Fair on Thursday late afternoon and evening, as it will be open during the Parent-Teacher interviews.
We will continue our United Way Fundraising this week, on Friday, November 4th, with Pajama day. Students and staff are encouraged to bring in a Toonie to support the United Way and to wear their cozy pajamas. To date, we have raised over $1,000 for the United Way. Thank you for your generosity.
Picture retakes will be taken on Wednesday, November 9th. If any families have decided not to order the original photos and would like to have new photos taken for their child, please have the student return the photo package to the school next Wednesday and they can have new photos taken that day. Any student who missed the original photo day will also be able to have their photo taken next Wednesday as well.
Dressing for the weather
As last week’s surprising snowstorm showed us, the weather can change very quickly at this time of year. Students are reminded to wear layers and, if possible, bring extra clothing (dry socks, mitts, etc.), so they are best prepared for the changing, and often wet, fall weather. Please put your child’s name on extra items sent to school, if possible, to avoid the excessive number of items that end up in our Lost & Found bins.
It is that time of year when many of the students’ lunches include Hallowe’en treats as snacks. A reminder to parents and students to be mindful of student allergies when packing these snacks. Please remember to only bring in nut-free treats.
