Our Structure and Working Groups
Current working groups:
Action and logistics: planning and organising actions, usually as part of affinity groups or projects (Coordinator role vacancy)
Regenerative culture: welfare; arrestee support; nature connection; action regen, conflict resilience, revive and thrive. RegenBathXR2@protonmail.com

Communities: Outreach, trainings (all on zoom currently). Including Green Outreach Hub and Climate Emergency Centre (bathcec@gmail.com) Families, resilience, neighbourhoods.
Self- organised system (SOS): establishing non-hierarchical ways of working across Bath XR.
Arts: creation of artistic materials to support our campaigns (coordinator role vacancy)
Hosting: meetings (coordinator role vacancy)
Finance and fundraising: finance.bathxr@gmail.com
Integration: welcome, recruitment, follow up.
Social Justice: ensures all activities take social justice into account.
Youth: independent group for under 25’s
Affinity groups
Affinity groups are the basis of the system used throughout the XR during actions. They ensure people are connected to one another in the build up, during the action and afterwards. They often come about as a result of a proposal for an action which then attracts people who would like to take part. Or they are existing groups which welcome new members. All rebels do the Non-Violent Direct Action (NVDA) training ahead of actions.

We mostly use WhatsApp for internal comms, using Telegram and Signal when the content needs to be more secure.
There are two “whole group” WhatsApp groups/chats: “Bath XR” - for “informal” communications (anyone can post) and “Bath XR Broadcast only” for event announcements.

This looks like overkill but ensures speedy comms. Note that we prefer face to face conversations where possible!

Mattermost and The Hub - secure, independent, free and run on renewable energy based in Switzerland. This is how most of XR Global communicates. Used within XR Bath and throughout the network. Only way to directly reach anyone or any group in XR anywhere. You have to be sent an invitation. Best used on a pc or laptop.Full of resources eg training, Rebel Toolkit, art.
