(Intermediate 1 dancers should wear pre-pointe or ballet shoes)

$25 Audition fee is required for all dancers

Youth Ensemble Fact Sheet

The Louisville Ballet Youth Ensemble is the performing ensemble associated with the Louisville Ballet School.  Dancers must audition each year to be accepted into the Youth Ensemble.

Opportunities:

The casting and assignment of roles is at the sole discretion of the choreographers and the Co-Artistic Directors.

        9:30am-12:00pm or 1:30pm-3:30pm

(This is generally an early morning run through on stage on the day of the performance)

Youth Ensemble Requirements:

(Order forms will be available upon acceptance into the Youth Ensemble)

*This rehearsal time is reserved for small groups or individual choreographer coaching

Additionally, those dancers who are cast in variations are expected to participate in the weekly variations class.

Dancers are expected to attend classes and rehearsals at the Main Street Studios (unless otherwise specified) during the LBS winter break:

10:30 am – 12:00 pm Saturday

6:00 – 7:30 pm

7:30 – 8:15 pm (pending Nutcracker performances)

4:30 – 6:00 pm Monday through Friday &

10:30 am – 12:00 pm Saturday (@ St. Matt)

6:30 –  8:30 pm &

12:30 – 4:30 pm Saturday (@ St. Matt)

Those who cannot rehearse those weeks must notify the Youth Ensemble Director, Elena Diehl no later than Thursday, August 29, 2013.

SERBA/RDA Festival Requirements:

Dancers must be 11 years old by the last day of the festival in order to participate.  In order to be eligible to perform, dancers must be 13 years old by the last day of the festival.  We encourage all families to consider your dancer’s attendance at the SERBA Festival.  There is an additional commitment of time and money for those dancers who choose to attend.  Actively participating in fundraising activities is an essential way to economize the expense to your family.

This year is a regional SERBA Festival, which is a three-day festival:

Depart:        Wednesday, April 30, 2014

Festival:        Thursday, May 1 – Saturday, May 3, 2014

Return:          Sunday, May 4, 2014

Estimated SERBA expenses before fundraising:  $500 – $900 per student

Meeting Information:

The location of this meeting is at the Downtown studios.  All dancers who have auditioned will receive a notice via email following the audition.  At the meeting, each accepted dancer will receive a folder which will include a contract that must be signed by both the dancer and a parent.  Additional information will also be included in your folder.  Please keep the folder in a secure place for easy reference throughout the season.
