Sports Congratulations!

My very best congratulations go to the members of our Football and Netball teams that did such a great job in representing our school in the recent Sportshall Challenge, the Football & Netball tournaments at The Manor and The Ignite Sports Tournament. They each displayed courage, determination and sportsmanship as well as commendable levels of team-spirit and team-work.

I am very proud of their achievements and they should be too!

Whiteboard Pens

Could you have a quick look round at home and in book bags to see if you have any whiteboard pens from school? One class has been through nearly 100 pens in a month - clearly this is an expense that is unsustainable, so we’d appreciate the return of any that you find!

Football & Netball Tournament at The Manor

On Saturday 3rd March it was the annual Football and Netball Tournament at Manor Primary School.  Having never even played a match, the Netball Team did us proud by reaching the quarter finals.  They played superbly and it was great to see their confidence grow through each match.
The Football Team fought hard and ended the first part of the morning as top of their group.  They breezed through the quarter final, but were knocked out at the semi-final stage.  Again, they did us proud and I thoroughly enjoyed watching some really good football, we certainly have some talented players in our team.
Well done to both teams and thank you to the parents and Mr Froud for giving up their Saturday morning to be with us - a thoroughly enjoyable event!

Ignite Sports National League Tournament

Congratulations to the Year 5 and 6 pupils who represented Hagbourne at last week’s Ignite Sports National League tournament, held at Oxford City Football Club. The team managed to win the afternoon session of the event, winning 5 of their 6 group games, before winning the semi-final 3-1, and the final 5-1. As a result, the team will travel once again to Oxford City to take on Witney Community School in the overall final, with the winner given the opportunity to represent Oxford City at the national event. Well done to Joseph, Simon, Tim, Jesse-Lee, Mckenzie, Samuel, Alfie and, Charlie - Good luck for this Saturday!

Sportshall - Year 5 & 6

After winning the first round outstandingly - 1st in 15 out of 18 races,  Hagbourne Year 5 and 6 Sportshall team attended the South Oxfordshire final on February 24th.
The competition was tough and the children threw, jumped and ran their socks off to come a very respectable 5th (out of 12 schools).  The team were a pleasure to take to the event and were encouraging and supportive to each other at all times - it was certainly a nail-biting final!  Thanks again to the parents who helped drive us there, it was much appreciated.
Well done team - we are all very proud of you!
