LEARNING TARGET: - I can use technology to find a mentor text that will help me revise my work for publication.
| - Identify a writing piece that you would like to revise and submit for publication. Maybe it is your “This I Believe” essay. Maybe it is a poem you started in your Writer’s Notebook. Once you’ve selected a story, figure out where you’d like to try and have it published.
- Check out TeenInk.com and Figment.com.
- Find a piece similar to the one that you would like to publish in the venue that you would like to publish. Complete the “Mentor Text Analysis” for that piece (same thing we did as we started our “This I Believe” essays.
- After completing the Mentor Text Analysis, use the rest of the class period to revise your work for publication.
| - Unit 1 Performance Assessment: For those that have given their speech, your video will be emailed to you. Watch your speech and reflect on your preparation and delivery. Complete the video self-critique sheet for WEDNESDAY (handout & in Unit 1 Supplemental Activities doc). For those who have yet to give their speech, be prepared to present TUESDAY.
