FAQs for the Sullivan Family (as of 8/14/22 @ 10:30 AM)
The beauty of friendships and community is the love and concern we share. Lecil and the boys are so grateful for everyone's prayers and efforts for finding our Sully. He loved his Friday afternoon walkabouts and regularly went to McAlpine Creek. Always one for an adventure, he has been known to go off the beaten trail, so every effort to find him is greatly appreciated.
In an effort to stem the deluge of suggestions, we have created this FAQ document. This CMPD investigation is open and active and not every detail can be shared with the public.
As of now:
- Matt was last seen wearing a light colored shirt and twill chino shorts that are teal in color.
- The park was searched Friday when he didn’t come home before the storms. Matt’s car was found at the trailhead of McAlpine Creek Park. It was thoroughly searched, and his phone and wallet were retrieved and also searched.
- His credit card activity has been reviewed.
- Video surveillance has been reviewed and still images retrieved from Moosehead Grill where Matt had lunch. Police have interviewed the staff on the scene there.
- Traffic cams near the park have been reviewed and have not led to any additional information except for the time of arrival at the Park.
- 12 individual and specific gridded areas were cleared by Search and Rescue teams on Saturday based on probable locations and directions of where Matt was most likely to go.
- Widespread use of social media and calls for people with information, including property owners along the greenway with personal cameras (Ring, etc) have been engaged.
- The suggestion of Matt leaving the park has been explored with local businesses and establishments being questioned and a Missing Person flier being distributed.
- Friday night thermal drones and a helicopter searched from the air while police and Parks & Rec teams covered every trail in motorized vehicles with search lights.
- On Saturday August 14, over 100 volunteers and trained expert teams searched extensively.
- The ponds in the park were searched using multiple sonar devices.
- Currently, K-9 units are not effective in highly trafficked areas like McAlpine and the greenway, especially while extreme temperatures dilute scents.
How to help:
- Pray! There is power in prayer and Lecil and Matt believe in it.
- Head on out to the trails around McAlpine Creek Park – look for anything that might generate a new lead. The more eyes out there the better. We will try to create a system so efforts are not doubled up, but there is a benefit to more than one set of eyes everywhere.
This case is active and open, while the first responder manpower from Saturday (boats, ATVs, drones, search and rescue teams) will not be as visible, police are following up on every lead. CMPD shared a press release Saturday, and the story has been shared via news outlets. As of now, no new viable leads have been generated.
Lecil & Matt’s community are working hard to make sure Lecil and the boys are cared for by close family and friends. We are all in this together to help find Matt! Please understand if they do not reply back to you. The Sullivans are well loved and there are lots of texts, DMs and messages and the volume is staggering, which is a testament to how loved the Sullivans are. Thank you so much.
