Prayers for the Faithful by St. Patrick
May the Strength of God guide us.
May the Power of God preserve us.
May the Wisdom of God instruct us.
May the Hand of God protect us.
May the Way of God direct us.
May the Shield of God defend us.
May the Angels of God guard us.
May Christ be with us!
May Christ be before us!
May Christ be in us,
Christ be over all!
May Thy Grace, Lord,
Always be ours,
This day, O Lord, and forevermore. Amen.
The Spirit Week activities, organized by the Entrepreneurial Adventure Program group in Grades 5 and 6, were an amazing success! The generosity of the school community has been wonderful, as $1150 has been raised for the World Wildlife Fund. The next fundraising activity is the popcorn orders. Due to the Snow Day, students are welcome to bring in their order forms on Tuesday, March 29th.
Due to the Snow Day, we are extending our collection period for the Lenten project fundraising. Students are welcome to bring in their donations on Tuesday, to help support our “tools for school” program, to buy learning materials and various tools for the Catholic Centre for Immigrants, which is currently teaching approximately 150 refugee children at three Ottawa hotels. The students range in age from 6-14 and would greatly benefit from your support.
On Wednesday, March 23rd, we were very fortunate to have Jonathan Rausseo, the Campus Sustainability Manager at the University of Ottawa, speak with the students. Throughout his interesting and informative talk he discussed the importance of recycling, energy conservation and overall care for the environment. His words will definitely motivate many students to continue to make a difference.
The Grade 2 and Grade 3 students will be involved in an exciting collaborative activity with a group called the “Mathletes” on Tuesday, March 29th. The students will work together in groups to solve a variety of problems in the gym, in four designated Math Zones. The goal of the program is to encourage teamwork and to build Math skills and confidence in the students.
The next meeting of the St. Stephen Catholic School Council will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 6:30pm in the school staff room. All parents are welcome to attend. More information on the council can be found at: http://ste.ocsb.ca/catholic-school-council.
Stations of the Cross
Mrs. Quinn’s Grade 4/5 class did a wonderful job of presenting the Stations of the Cross to the students in the gym, on Thursday, March 24th. Despite the Snow Day, the students who were present were able to work together to present the information to the student population, reminding them of the sacrifice Jesus made for us. We hope that everyone has a wonderful Easter and is able to spend time with their families. We wish safe travels to anyone who will be on the roads.
