CASA Mindray Night 2014 Summary

.ASA came back to New Orleans, so did CASA annual meeting/dinner/party. On Saturday, October 11th, 2014, CASA Mindray Night was held at Hilton Garden Inn Ballroom. There were about 140 people attended this year’s event.

At the beginning, Dr. Henry Liu, the local host for this year’s CASA event, introduced the invited guests.

.

Then Dr. David Tang, president of CASA, presented a thorough review of CASA history, current ongoing programs in CASA, and missions of CASA.

.

Following David’s presentation, Dr. Jane Fitch of current ASA President congratulated CASA on the annual event and the successful programs this years.

.

After Dr. Fitch, Dr. Jin Liu spoke and thanked for the great event and the great opportunity for anesthesiologists all over the world to meet, chat and establish connections, and he edged CASA to continue and deepen its relationships with CSA, hoping to start some new programs with CSA.

.

Then Prof. Daniela Filipescu offered some remarks to congratulate CASA on its annual meeting and party, and she hoped CASA will help ESA to build up a good partnership with ASA and CSA.

.

This year in New Orleans, CASA issued CASA Honorary Member certificates to Drs. Frances Chung, Yandong Jiang, Jin Liu, Ailun Luo, Hong Ma, Shanglong Yao, Buwei Yu, Zhiyi Zuo, Weidong Mi, nine (9) honorary members in total received their certificates this year.

This year’s CASA meeting did not arrange lectures; instead we started a new program entitled “Introduction of prominent CASA members”.

1.Dr. Chengzheng Wang introduced Dr. Philip Liu, who unfortunately passed away recently.
.
2. Dr. Lixin Liu introduced Dr. Lingqun Hu, the Director of No-Pain Labor’N Delivery and GHI (Global Health Initiative). Dr. Hu also won this year’s CASA Outstanding Member Award.

3.At the last, Dr. David Tang introduced Dr. Yandong Jiang, the newly-elected Associate Editor of the prestigious Anesthesiology Journal (nicknamed Green Journal).
.

This year’s CASA Mindray Cup Golf Tournament was held also on October 11th, Saturday at Lakewood Golf Club of New Orleans, Louisiana. Eight players competed in the game. Dr. Herbert Luo from Peoria, Illinois, won the 1st Place, Dr. Yonggang Peng from Gainesville, Florida, won the 2nd Place, and Dr. Chuck Tong from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, won the 3rd Place. Mr. Tom Moore from San Antonio, Texas, of Mindray Company, won the Longest Drive Competition at 10th hole, and Dr. Herbert Luo won the Closest to Pin Competition at 17th hole.

Towards the end of the night, Drs. David Tang, Lixin Liu and Henry Liu presented a “Thank you” plaque to Mindray company for their sponsorship, Mr. Xinsheng Li accepted the plaque on behalf of Mindray; Mr. Wayne Quinn talked about the partnership between CASA and Mindray, and he wishes this cooperation will continue for the years to come.

And Dr. Su Fan presented a gift to CASA on behalf of Chinese Society of Integrative Anesthesiology (CSIA).

Dr. Henry Liu was also presented a plaque from CASA President David Tang for his service to CASA in 2013.

.

All attendees had great time during the event. They refreshed their memory with their respective friends, acquainted some new friends, and met some people they wished to meet for a long time. They planned some new programs, established some collaboration, and built up some new WeChat connections.

.

The annual CASA event became so popular that some people just flew in for the event. And they enjoyed their stay in New Orleans, the food, the culture, the natural beauty and the great friendly people.
