Kristen Krauss received her BA from Barnard College and studied the violin and viola with Patinka Kopeck as part of the Manhattan School of Music/Barnard joint program. She began teaching at the School for Strings in 1994 after completing the Teacher Training Program under The School for Strings founder Louise Beherend. Additional teacher training with Ronda Cole and Linda Fiore. Kristen has been on the violin faculty of the JCC, Thurnauer School of Music, The Elizabeth Morrow School and has coached chamber music for the New York Youth Symphony chamber music program as well as managed the program. She has held administrative positions at Interlochen Arts Camp, the Waterloo Music Festival, and at Music in the Mountains where she also coached chamber music. In addition, solo, chamber music and orchestral performances on violin & viola at the Aspen and Waterloo music festivals as well as Columbia University. Most recently, she was both faculty member and parent at the Accademia Perosi in Biella, Italy. Having raised four musical children who attend summer music festivals, Kristen brings her experience as parent, administrator, teacher and participant to Berkshire Summer Music.
