Dear Friend,

Long live our new citizen!^[1] I have just received your telegram, and I hope my answer reached you; I would be very happy to know that your honoured wife^[2] got through her ordeal safely – poor women, it is always such a difficult time for them – and if, instead of a daughter, it was a son who saw the light of day, let me say in consolation

that one can never have too much of a good thing, – if the boy is healthy and is putting on weight, he will be a joy to his parents. –

I should make a correction to my letter of yesterday, because I made a mistake with the name of the frame-maker;^[3] I have paid the bill made out to E. Remy;^[4] furthermore, the English translation of Kozma’s^[5] excellent article is not precisely correct, but I think it came out very well even so.

The pleasant prospect – of being able to see you and your dear wife here in the middle of January, albeit for a short time during the course of your trip to Greece – might, I fear, go up in smoke because of the war.

Éljen! az új honpolgár; most vettem a táviratot, s reménylem válaszom kezéhez jutott; igen fogok örülni, ha tisztelt neje, ezen szegény nokre, mindig nehéz epochán, szerencséssen [sic] át-esett; s ha leány helyet [sic], – fiú látta a napvilágot, erre vigaszul mondhatom

Tegnapi levelemet pótlom azzal; hogy a keret gyárosnak nevét tévessen [sic] irtam; én a számlát E. Remy nek küldve, – kiegyenlítettem; Továbbá, a Kozma féle szép czikkben, az angol fordítás, nem egészen helyes; de azt tartom még is kitűnően sikerült;
