The best/most current source is probably the American Community Survey.

Below are two tables from the ACS. The first is the 1-year sample suggesting there are more renters than homeowners but the margin of error is large though the differences are still significant.

So I grabbed a table from the 3 year sample with smaller margin of error and the difference is fairly clear that the estimate suggests there are more renters than owners in Austin.
