Hello BMS Community,
I can’t believe it is already May and the end of the year is fast approaching. However, there is plenty of learning time to be had until the last day of school on June 9th. As the weather becomes nicer, we all tend to have a little bit of spring fever. My hope is that we all can continue to encourage our students to stay focused so they receive a consistent message that there is plenty of important learning to be had before the end of the year.
We have some very exciting news to share with you. Our school was recognized with the Gold Ribbon Award by the State of California. This is truly an honor as it represents all the dedication, hard work and expertise by our staff, students and community in helping to shape our PBIS, WEB and Sources of Strength (SOS) programs. Our goal should always be to strive to make our school the best place it can be. We were informed that less than 50% of the schools in Solano County that met the criteria and applied were awarded this prestigious distinction. We are having a team from our school attend an awards ceremony in Sacramento on May 31 with the State Superintendent of Education. We will be hosting a short ceremony at BMS on June 6th for a school wide recognition. There will be more detailed information on this in the coming weeks. I am so thankful to everyone involved in our work here at BMS.
We have another enormous recognition for one of our rock star employees. Many of you know Angie Porter who is our campus supervisor. She greets all the kids every morning with a smile on her face, she leads our Mindful Mornings group, and is an amazing member of our school community. She has just been named the California State Classified Employee of the Year. It is justified for her to be recognized with this statewide distinction. Congratulations to Angie!!!
For parents of 8th grade students only, click here for important information regarding 8th grade activities such as eligibility and dates for 8th grade promotion, 8th grade dance, and 8th grade extravaganza. We have a few options for the 8th grade extravaganza. We sent a survey to students about their interest and we want to know your interest level for your child to participate as an 8th grade parent. For 8th grade parents only, please fill out this short survey.
