How to Attend a Hangout on Air

A step-by-step guide with screenshots

Hello!  Here is a step-by-step guide to attending a Google Hangout on Air.

For best results, make sure you are using the Google Chrome browser.

The host will send you a link to the event page, which will look like this.

Click the Play button in the hangout window to begin playback.  Once the host begins broadcasting, you will be able to watch the event in real time.  (Note: The event will also archive so that you can watch it after playback has ended.)

The host may have enabled several features.  Here, we will discuss two of the most common (there are others).

If the host has enabled this feature, you will see it at the bottom of your screen, after clicking the play button.  You have the option to vote on the conversation.  A panelist made a great point?  Give him/her a thumbs up!

If Q&A is enabled, it will pop up on the right hand side once you click the play button.  Sometimes, if the host has enabled more than one app, you can choose Q&A from the app window.  Q&A will then open on the right hand side.

From there, click this button on the bottom right hand corner of your screen.  This box will then open.

Type your question, then hit submit.  The moderators will receive it, and (hopefully) answer it.  Happy hangout!!!
