Dear Friend,
I have not written to you for a long time. I was stuck with a lot of work, writing a book which might be titled “About King Edward” and will include memories of the seven summers he had spent in Marienbad.[1] During that time I had many opportunities to observe him. If need be, I would be grateful if you could let me have a reproduction of the portrait you painted of the King some time ago [7705] and also if you would give me permission to illustrate my book with this picture.
I imagine that you and Mrs. Laszlo[2] are deeply involved with Christmas preparations and that at least four of your younger children will be gathered around you. It has also been ages since I heard from your brother.[3] How is he? When I passed through Munich nearly a year ago I met his wife and son who wanted to study medicine if I am not mistaken. And what happened to your second trip to Hungary that you had planned last year? Have you given up on it? That would give me the opportunity for a reunion, you know.
Another year of interesting impressions lies behind you: your visit to Italy, the meeting with the Italian Crown prince whose portrait I would dearly love to have a copy of [7890] [or] [9813], just as I would also love to hear in general about your latest creations.
The year is reaching its end and for that reason I can only reiterate

your wife’s advice: don’t be too [the following word in English in the original] “restless” and look after your health more. The great painter artist should also be a great lifestyle artist especially as you will turn 60 in the coming year.
My most heartfelt regards and good wishes to yourself, Mrs. Laszlo and your children | Yours devoted in friendship
S. Münz
