Morning!

Today we continue the theme of Gerund and "sport and games"

Our aims are: to develop your skills in oral speech, to learn new words , to develop

pupil's wish to be strong and healthy to improve knowledge In Gerund

The motto of the lesson is:

Higher, Quicker, Stronger.

Let's dive into the world of sport. You can see the well known sportsman and they are champions. They straggle for the result and they want to be the firs in sport, and we let's be the first in English, in studying.

1. What kinds of sport do you know? (water sports, adventure sports, ball sports)

• Герундій - це неособова форма дієслова, яка поєднує властивості дієслова та іменника.

Як іменник герундій вживається з:

• Присвійним іменником або іменником у присвійному відмінку:
• "Do you mind of my staying here?'
• 3 прийменником:
• ' 'Thank you for helping me."
• Виконує функції властиві іменнику:
• Rowing is a good for health. Як дієслово герундій:
• Може мати додаток:
• Не liked driving a car.

" В об'зктному стані може мати неозначену

• (Indefinite -going Perfect - having gone)
• Perfect (having V3) вживають для позначення дії, яка відбулась раніше дії, позначеної особовою формою дієслова.

From the History of the Olympics Games

The Olympic Games have a long history. They began in 776 B.C. and took place every four years in Olympia, in Greece. Usually the Olympic Games began before the middle of the summer. Best athletes arrived from many Greek states to Olympia to compete in running, in long jumps, throwing of discus and wrestling.

All the athletes took an oath and promised to compete honestly and to keep the rules of the Olympics. The citizens of all the Greek states were invited to take part in the Games.

The prizes were wreaths made of the branches of olive trees. Only men could take part in the Olympics. Women were not allowed even to watch the competitions at the stadium. The Olympics had been held for about eleven hundreds years, until he emperor Theodosius banned them for religious reason in 394 A.D.

The Games were not held again until 1896. It was an ancient Olympic tradition that

inspired a Frenchman Pierre de Coubertin to suggest reviving the Olympics. 311 athletes from 13 countries arrived in the capital of Greece to take part in contest. The sportsmen competed in nine kinds of sports: athletics, swimming, gymnastics, weight lifting, and wrestling, tennis, fencing, cycling and shooting. Since that time the Olympic Games became international

Modern Olympic games keep the tradition of equality, honour, justice of the international competitions. The Games have their own symbols. The Olympic flame is a symbol of unity, friendship and piece of nations. The Olympics are held in glory of sport and their motto is: 'Higher, quicker, stronger!'
