To be a charitable organisation and run a charitable campaign, does not mean that organisation has to be registered, but registration by a voluntary sector regulatory body like the UK’s Charity Commission means the organisation has gone through a heavy vetting process and so the public can be more trusting that their donation will help its good cause in one way or another.
