French 3.2

Description:

French 3.2 is a course designed to teach French on a Intermediate Low level. English information and directions form much of the course.

By the end of this course, students will be able to speak about basic personal information, ask and respond to simple questions about concrete daily experiences. The focus is on recycling known vocabulary as they learn new concepts. Using the language alphabet, they can write statements using familiar words and phrases. Basic word order is becoming stronger, although errors in grammar, word choice, and punctuation may occur. They write in primarily present tense. Students will listen for contextual words and can comprehend one sentence at a time on basic personal needs and tasks. They will practice reading sentences from the simplest connected texts, knowing there will be frequent miscommunication.

Content in the course includes technology, computers, love and dating, work, measurements, and transportation. Students study the future tense, relative pronouns, comparisons, conjunctions, and the conditional tense.

Expectations for the student include completing writing and speaking assessments using video, active engagement in their own learning, practicing vocabulary over time, comprehending grammar patterns, using various forms of verbs, participating in simple conversations and speaking prompts, analyzing and comparing cultural products, practices and perspectives of various French-speaking countries, especially Switzerland and Senegal.
