A Blog can be set up for individual students or for the entire class. This tool allows students to make and comment on posts. Posts can be organized by topic, entry date, and tags. The Blog tool allows grading.

In this tutorial you will learn:

To begin go to Control Panel, click on Course Tools and then Blogs.


Click the Create Blogs button.  Give the Blog a name and instructions.


Blog Availability can be set to yes or no.  If it set to No, students will not have access. Also Date Restrictions similar to an announcement or other assignment can be set.


Blog settings include Blog Participation set individually to all students or course.

Index Entries allow organizing viewing by weekly or monthly.  

Allow Users to Edit and Delete Entries, check this to allow students to make edits.

Grade Journal select No Grading or Grade : Points possible if the journal is to be submitted for a grade.


Click Submit to finish.
