I have just received your good wishes and while reciprocating them with all my heart, am also hastening to let you know how sorry I was to hear of the misfortune that has befallen you – just in the least convenient place for such a thing to occur; but I sincerely hope that for those people whose

whose head, heart – and more importantly, hands – are in such good shape, the leg will surely soon be on the mend; but I do urge you not to give up the physiotherapy and the massages once it is partially better – it needs to be completely cured; and for that one needs due patience.

I can imagine that your dear respected wife^[1] was completely beside herself; please

please pass on my sympathy, and best wishes for the new year; my son^[2] and daughter-in-law have asked me to pass on theirs, likewise. –

Since I do not know your current address, I have sent the latest edition of the “Vasárnapi újság”, along with the other publications I mentioned, to your home address; if it has not reached you, I can send it again, because the study portrait [5572] that is on show at the Salon is reproduced in it

it;^[3] and it contains a rather poor review.

The reproduction from Berlin arrived exactly in time for Christmas; and I think it is good, although the image of Count Berthold,^[4] and perhaps even more the one of Lady Wantage,^[5] is better.

Please let me know of the progress of your recovery, and your address in Wiesbaden, and if convenient, your further plans; and with warm and cordial regards, I remain,

Kedves jó barátom!

Most vettem becses jó kívánataidat, sietek, azokat teljes szívből viszonozván; nagy sajnálatomat, azon szerencsétlen véletlen miatt kifejezni, mert éppen ott ért; – hol mindenesetre – legalkalmatlanabb; de bizton reménylem, hogy annál kinél %

kinél a fej, a szív, s még még pláne a kéz, annyira rendén van, annál a láb és rövideden rendbe fog jönni; csak arra kérem, ne szüntesse be, a gyógy-kezelést, és a.i. a massaget, ha félig meddig javult; – azt teljessen [sic] kell helyre állítani; s ehhez kellő türelmet, – nem kell sajnálni.

Képzelem kedves, s mélyen tisztelt jó neje, hogy lehetett megrémülve, kérem %
