Terms and Conditions

Event Committee = Materialise 3D Printing Hackathon Organizing Committee

Hosting Company = Materialise Sdn. Bhd.

 

  1. Participants are encouraged to bring their own development device (Laptop, RaspberryPi, Kinect, etc..).
  2. The event committee reserves the right to REJECT registrants to participate in the event at their discretion without any prior notification. Any registrations that are not received before the cutoff date and time stipulated by the event committee will not be entertained.
  3. The event committee reserves the right to DISALLOW any individuals attempting to register on the day of the event itself. This is due to logistical and space constraints of the venue.
  4. The event venue has been allocated to hold at maximum 12 slots for teams to participate in the event. Each allocated slot is for maximum, five (5) persons only.
  5. The event committee can and will adjust the allocated slots for participants as and when the situation requires within the feasibility of the space available from the management of the event venue.
  6. The event committee and the management of the event venue will NOT be responsible for any loss or damage to equipment, tools or any materials brought by the participants before, during and after the event has concluded. Participants are held responsible for the safety of their personal belongings at all times while at the event venue.
  7. The event committee and the management of the event venue will NOT be held liable for any injuries on the participants. Participants are advised to inform the event committee should they require medical attention or assistance throughout their participation in the event.
  8. The event venue is equipped with power outlets for use during the event. However, the participants are encouraged to bring their own power extensions as a precaution against limited number of the available power outlets.
  9. Should the participant require the use of tools which requires high power consumption (such as a soldering iron station), please be mindful of your surroundings and operate such tools according to their specified safe operating procedures as well as the usage of all personal safety equipment.
  10. Any damage inflicted to the event venue by the participants during the course of the event will be penalized by the management of the venue. The event committee will NOT be held liable for any damage caused by the participants.
  11. For the software challenge: the source code and any materials submitted by the participants or teams to the event committee and the panel of judges will be released as open source code by the event committee at the end of the event. Participants are encouraged to include the necessary software licensing (GPLv2/v3, Apache, BSD etc) to allow the code and materials to be distributed freely without any restrictions other than those stated within the license provided by the participants.
  12. The event committee & the Hosting Company WILL NOT and DO NOT hold the rights (IP) to the materials submitted by the participants during the event. Participants are encouraged to read and understand their rights as developers and copyright information as outlined in their works, any derivative works used in their works and copyright licenses.
  13. Progress updates either on software or hardware entries from participants will be verified by the event committee at scheduled intervals throughout the event. Not more than 5 minutes will be given for each individual / team to provide a brief update to the event committee within the progress update window determined by the event committee. Participants are encouraged to keep a changelog of events throughout the entire event to assist the panel of judges during the assessment phase of the event. The changelog and codes must be included in the repository where applicable.
  14. For the software challenge: Progress updates for every entry will be measured in lines of code changed and submitted between update intervals. Updating changelogs, documentation or other text documents within the repository will not be taken into consideration as actual updates.
