Turn 7 Recap

Narrative

The Quebs advanced first, moving in direct lines to the creatures closest. One could taste the fear of the young human on his tongue. The Queb eagerly approached, only to receive a stinging blow from a forked sword. The human will pay for that. The other Queb approached the moving rock, not having fought a creature like this before, the beast took a cautious approach. The rock appeared to be shouting at the guards, and the queb slithered right up to hir hoping hir attendions were focused elsewhere. A crossbow bolt from Breona and  a dagger thrown from Jay Zin both struck true against the Queb, and were quickly followed up by a snip from the drake creature. The combination of ranged and melee attacks puts the beast off-guard. (High and Low, pg.101)

The guard approached following the beasts and were clearly preparing to subdue the rock. The Quebs were poised to strike at their foes as well. <The enemies used their action round for movement>

Turn 7 Combat Actions:

Breona

Satisfied with the piercing impact of her crossbow bolt, Breona had eagerly reloaded the next one. The differences in speed were a rush, watching the guards and the beasts moving sluggishly. Yet they were likely not to be underestimated. She'd recently read a bestiary of the Pytharon Empire, depicting feline snakes used as riding animals, and considered such a notion folly. She really should have known better though. Anything was possible in the Ninth World. Imagine if they were poisonous!

Lowering her crossbow, and quickly putting it back into its sling worn on her back, she aimed her right wrist at the queb closest to her, which was currently drawn to Daks with a shout. Gingerly, she pressed the shiny silver button upon the wristband, hoping to hurt the queb and secure it in place.

Using the Root Spike cypher: 1d20 ⇒ 16 - 2 points of damage, target rooted for one minute or until another creature uses an action to free it

Hits Queb 1 for 1 damage, root effect applied

Mechanus' hand tingled with energy once more. He stepped back into the tunnel and away from Zin until he knew more about the man.

His internal computer once more painted a target on the closest lion-snake and all he did was just will the energy forth.

Another thin ray pierced the head of the creature, leaving a smoking hole behind.

Hits Queb 2 for 3 damage

Jay Zin found himself answering the question from Mechanus without even thinking about it...

Actually you have done nothing to me... I was just concerned because I have never seen Azure respond as negatively to someone as she did to you. Then quieter to himself why did I say that? and before the question was out of his own mouth it clicked... and he answered himself without even thinking about it... I hit myself with my own truth-telling cypher... and finally in exasperation and now I can't shut up.

While he said all this he pulled and released another dagger at the Furry serpentine creature with an ease that came from hours of practice.

Pierce (3dmg): 1d20 ⇒ 4 wer'e fast, theyr'e slow, light weapon, does old one-two-three apply?

and then starts moving around to flank the heavily armored men. (D8 if diagonals are 5 ft... c8 if they are not.)

Mechanus tried to make sense of the man but could not. Maybe after this all quiets down...

He kept talking to Jay Zin. The nano had always been told to keep the deranged occupied. "Ok. See? I am not your enemy then." He thought quickly, "So is that your bird? Where is it from? How did you get it? Where are you from? How's the weather?"

He shook his head, How's the weather! Really? Is that the best question I could come up with to keep the loonie occupied?

He half-listened, half-paid attention to the lion-snakes...

Azzuretta could taste the blood of the creature in her mouth and sense it's anger and fear at the onslaught of attacks on it. She started to feel excited... It didn't taste as good as fish but, this wasn't bad... well once you got past the hair...

bite(2dmg): 1d20 ⇒ 12 we're fast, they're slow, old one-two-three?

then does her best to move out of reach of the creatures wondering if they would be able to reach her while she was near the ceiling.

Daks

His attention fully on the first Queb, Daks lashed out again with his verred. He looked frightened, furious, and excited all at once as his verred, crackling with electricity, swung through the air once more.Attack: 1d20 ⇒ 13 The blade sink deep into the Queb's thick fur hide. The flesh around the Blade twitching from the electricity running through the blade. Hits Queb 1 for 4 damage

Basai

Hir companions were focusing on the Queb while Basai occupied the attention of the guards. Again shi puffed, drawing back an arm to drive a rocky fist through the chest of the armored guard but a Queb slithered up to get in between hir feet. Thankfully Breona and Jay and Azure all had hir covered. With hir feet clear, shi followed through with surprisingly good form, hir weight behind hir punch.

Basai Hit: 1d20 ⇒ 4

Hir fist connected but the plating of the armor redirected the force, leaving a mineral streak from hir hide along the surface. Basai grunted as shi adjusted, using the momentum to recover from the failed strike. Shi couldn't underestimate these guards.

The guards both struck out against the Diruk, they had subdued the visitant before, and understood where shi hid her soft spots. The first blow landed a deep strike in the Diruk’s side, <GM Intrusion - 50% Armor + Effect - 2 damage & penalty to next Action:Attack> shi knew she was going to struggle to land her next blow, after receiving the piercing wound to her side. The next blow landed in a spot that had not yet healed from the most recent gem extraction. As the spear pierced hir flesh, Basai’s gem’s shifted color to a deep rep, and shi vented steam. The guard got one last big push on his spear before Basai knocked the spear away, suffering a deep blow. <GM Intrusion - Ignore Armor - 4 damage> Just when the Diruk thought it couldn’t get worse, the Queb that had slithered its way up to her feet lashed out. First the Queb made to bite the Diruk, but hir rocky hide proved too tough for the Queb’s fangs. The Queb followed up by lashing out with its tail, hoping to trip up the Diruk. Basai held hir ground firm against this attack as well.

The Queb facing Daks leapt from the earth, intending to land a heavy bite to his side. Daks managed to get his shield into place at the last moment, and deflected the blow away from him. As the Queb’s mass returned to the earth, the creature wasted no time before attempting to jab its tail into Daks’ abdomen. The adventurer dodged to side, narrowly missing the sharp barbed tail.

Turn 8

The Diruk had received some heavy hits that left the guards elated despite knowing they were at a disadvantage from the continued presence of the Glow. The Queb’s coiled after missing their blows, they did not know why the room glowed with a dim blueness, nor why their enemies glowed neon, but they suspected something was amiss from how easily their attacks had been avoided.
