Bi+ Georgia Code of Conduct
Bi+ Georgia is an organization that is building a safe community for bi+ people in Georgia through visibility, education, and advocacy. We are committed to our mission statement and therefore committed to providing a community that is harassment and discrimination free, and that respects our members’ agency to consent. As such, we are committed to providing a friendly, welcoming, and harassment-free environment for all, regardless of race, citizenship status, gender, gender identity, or gender expression, sexual orientation, ability, socioeconomic status, or religion (or lack thereof).
This code of conduct was created to clearly define what a safe community means to us, so that we can be clear about our intent as a community, and so that members of our community have access to procedures for addressing issues, should they arise.
Bi+ Georgia Community Guidelines
Bi+ Georgia values the safety and security of all our community members, and because of that, we will not tolerate any form of harassment, discrimination, or behavior that violates anyone’s consent. Our goal is to provide a safe and secure environment for our community and to this end, we have taken the following actions:
Unacceptable Behavior
How To Report Unacceptable Behavior
Community members who have been harassed, discriminated against, or otherwise harmed at a Bi+ Georgia event may email chair@biplusga.org to report it. Bi+ Georgia is committed to taking all reports seriously and above all else, offering respect to our members, their assessment of harm, and their wishes to resolve an issue.
Consequences For Unacceptable Behavior
Community members found to have violated our code of conduct may be put on membership hiatus or expelled from our community entirely following a review of a report and may not be allowed to attend our events at that time.
Community members who are asked to stop unacceptable behavior are expected to comply immediately or may be subject to removal from a Bi+ Georgia event.
Above all, Bi+ Georgia believes and supports survivors.
We do not welcome abusers at Bi+ Georgia events. We want to create spaces where survivors can attend without worrying about their abusers being present. If you are a survivor of abuse and are concerned about an abuser being a current Bi+ Georgia member or an attendee at a future event, don’t hesitate to reach out to us at chair@biplusga.org
Periodic Review
Bi+ Georgia is committed to building a safe community for bi+ people in Georgia. As such, Bi+ Georgia commits to an annual review of the code of conduct during the month of June to ensure that it continues to align with this goal and address the needs of our community. Bi+ Georgia welcomes feedback, which can be submitted to chair@biplusga.org
