What is New Dawn of Harmony

New Dawn of Harmony (NDOH) is a non-profit reimagining of the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic series. A complete rewrite that rebuilds the world, characters, and storylines from the ground up. This project has been a long-time dream and a true labor of love, created with the goal of expanding the emotional depth, lore, and artistry of the ponies we all love! While we’re still in the early stages of development, we’re thrilled to begin welcoming voice talents for all of our amazing characters in episodes 1 and 2!

If you’d like to see more in depth information about NDOH and the team, please head here!

Compensation

Every performer joining NDOH becomes an essential part of the story we’re building together. Because of that, we want to be as transparent and respectful as possible about how our compensation, expectations, and voice-direction philosophy work for this project. Our team is entirely self-funded. Every payment comes directly out of pocket from a very small core crew. While our budget is limited, we believe in compensating our actors fairly for their time and talent. To honor that, we are offering a Pay-per-line-tier structure for every episode you participate in.

This rate applies to both finalized scripts and any requested edits / extras. Payment is issued after completion of each episode’s recording process. Clear documentation of line counts and payments will always be provided for your own records.

Creative Expectations

We are not seeking only impressions of the canon characters. NDoH is a reimagined series, and therefore the heart of that reimagining lies in each performer bringing their own craft to the table. We encourage you to have fresh interpretations of the Mane Six and supporting cast with ranges that highlight your strengths and individuality, and to think of each character as a torch you are helping carry forward and not something you’re required to replicate. Your voice should feel alive, authentic, and distinctly yours with the familiarity of what the character needs. Since NDOH includes musical elements, we are also looking for actors who are comfortable singing in character.

Agreements

All selected voice actors will need to sign an NDA and a Work-for-Hire Agreement before receiving scripts or project materials. The NDA keeps all story details, artwork, and internal communication confidential. The Work-for-Hire agreement confirms that your recordings are officially part of the project and allows us to use them in episodes and promotional content while ensuring you’re properly credited and compensated. These are standard documents that protect both you and the project.

New Dawn of Harmony is a non-profit fan-created project with no affiliation to Hasbro, DHX, or any official My Little Pony production. All work done for NDoH is original, transformative, and crafted purely out of passion for the world and its characters.

F.A.Q.

New Dawn of Harmony
Casting Call F.A.Q.

Q: When will casting conclude?

A: This Casting Call will end on February 27th at 11pm PST. More casting opportunities will be available in the future as more episodes of NDoH enter production.

Q: How will I know if I got the part or not?

A: After the casting call concludes, our team will be going through all the submissions. We will then send out call backs to those we would like to hear more from. Once call backs have been sent out, an announcement will be made in “The Lovely Garden” discord server, as well as on @lovinglypromise social media platforms. We will only be reaching out to those moving forward with call backs.

Q: Will I be considered for other roles even if I don’t audition for every character?

A: Yes! We will be keeping in mind voices we think may be a good fit for a different character in this casting call, and for future casting calls. Once the casting call has ended and we move onto the call back phase we may reach out to people we’d like to hear more from!

Q: Do I need to submit my audition via Backstage.com?
A: No, all auditions are required to be submitted via our Google form. Our project is posted on Backstage purely to reach more people.

Q: Do I need to record both songs for the characters I’m auditioning for?

A: While we would prefer to hear both songs to see your range as these characters, at the end of the day we just need to hear you sing. So if you can only record one song that is fine.

Q: I’m not confident in my singing, will I still be considered for the part?

A: Ideally we would like to cast someone who can portray our characters during spoken lines and in song. However we are absolutely open to finding a singer who can match your performance if we are blown away by your ability to embody our characters!

Q: Do I need to include the instrumentals for the songs in my audition, or just acapella?

A: It is not required to include instrumentals. If however you are confident in your audio mixing skills you are welcome to include them.

Q: I think I submitted something incorrectly or need to add something to my already submitted audition, what should I do?
A: If you need to make any changes to your audition you can message our Casting Director directly to get that info updated. You can message him on discord at @ritzytone or send us an email at newdawnofharmonyofficial@gmail.com

Q: Are there any positions on the production team for NDoH? (Musicians, Artists, Animators, ect.)

A: We are not currently looking for anyone to fill these positions. If and when we open applications for these, or similar positions, official announcements will be made in “The Lovely Garden” discord server, as well as on @lovinglypromise social media platforms.

Twilight Sparkle

About Twilight Sparkle

Pronouns: She/Her

Age Range: 20 - 25

Voice: Mid

Accent: General American

(We’d love to hear your version of this character)

In New Dawn of Harmony, Twilight Sparkle is a unicorn who trusts books more than ponies. She’s convinced that if she studies hard enough she can stop everything from falling apart. Prophecies and ancient magic feel stable and predictable. Other ponies don’t.

When trouble shows up, Twilight’s instinct is to organize it, explain it, and contain it. She wants clear answers, clean rules, and a plan that leaves no room for surprise. To her, control is about keeping others safe. It’s how she shows care, even when it puts distance between her and the ponies around her.

The turning point is when she finds her friends. Twilight genuinely wants to do better for them and starts trying to listen to those around her and to trust them. Her friendships don’t change who she is inside, but they give her the courage to grow beyond it.

Personality Notes:

  • Twilight’s voice is steady, thoughtful, and a bit formal, shaped by her need to stay logical.
  • Her social anxiety makes her tone stiff or shaky around new ponies, and she speeds up or stumbles when nervous.
  • She has a dry, nerdy sass that comes out when she’s comfortable or her logic is challenged.
  • Her emotions show easily: she brightens with curiosity, softens when unsure, and warms around friends.
  • In NDOH, her voice should balance her confidence with her insecurity, including the occasional anxious meltdown.

VA Lines

Each line will include brief context/direction to help you step into the moment and understand the emotional direction of the scene. Please provide between 2-3 unique takes of each line in AABBCC format.

When you’re ready to submit, click the link below to complete our application form and attach your single file so we can review your audition. You are welcome to record the songs in a different file if you’d like to keep them separate.

Direction

Line

(Twilight, sensing that Celestia may be growing frustrated with her bringing up old superstitions again, hesitates and fidgets, her confidence wavering as she tries to choose her next words carefully.)

Twilight: (With hesitation) Well… last night, I decided to do some research about the Summer Sun Celebration, and… um… I uncovered something that might be… concerning.

(Arguing with Spike as he is tired of Twilight turning everything into more of a mystery than it seems. Twilight, defensively maintains her determination.)

Twilight: It is a mystery! What if these aren’t just random problems? What if they’re connected somehow? We have to figure this out, Spike!

(Yelling at her friends. Under some sort of spell or corruption, Twilight enters an enraged state of mind. An uncharacteristic fury on full display.)

Twilight: HOW DARE YOU QUESTION HER? YOU DON’T KNOW HER, AND YOU DON’T KNOW ME!

(Speaking straight from the heart, Twilight realizes she has true friends and that she is grateful to have them by her side.)

Twilight: But I’ve finally found something I didn’t even know I was missing. They showed me who I really am… with them, I feel… whole.

Laughing:

  • One soft giggle.

  • One full, out-loud laugh.

Grunts:

  • One exertion grunt, as if lifting something heavy with magic.

  • One startled grunt, as if you’ve just tripped and fallen.

Crying:

  • One quiet, restrained sob, as though you’re curled up trying not to be heard.

  • One intense, open cry, as though you’ve just lost someone dear in battle.

Feel free to improvise. (Optional)

VA Singing (Required)

For the songs, you do not need to record the full piece. We’re perfectly happy with selected segments, and we’ve highlighted the specific parts we’d like to hear most from you.

Twilight’s songs tend to hit pretty deep emotionally, usually with expressive piano parts and those controlled, powerful belts she slips into when her feelings finally break through.

Spike

About Spike

Pronouns: He/Him

Age Range: 10-13

Voice: Mid - High

Accent: General American

(We’d love to hear your version of this character)

In New Dawn of Harmony, Spike is a young dragon who grew up learning how to belong in a place not designed for him. Being raised among ponies, he’s always been aware that he’s a little different, which makes him observant, adaptable, and more emotionally intelligent. While Twilight looks to books for answers and Spike looks to those around him.

When problems arise, Spike focuses on what matters now. He doesn’t get lost in hypotheticals or long term consequences the way Twilight does. That practicality makes him a pillar for others, but it can also lead him to dismiss details that feel insignificant at the time.

Spike’s loyalty to Twilight is unwavering, but it’s not entirely blind. Being her brother pushes him to speak up, even when it’s uncomfortable and tries to see himself as more than just an assistant. Over time, he’ll learn that his empathy, perspective, and presence are just as valuable as Twilight’s intellect. His friendships don’t just give him purpose, they help him realize he already had one.

Personality Notes:

  • Spike’s voice is easygoing, grounded, and naturally a little snarky from years around Twilight.
  • He wants to feel needed; when unsure, his voice gets quieter and more hesitant.
  • He often sounds frustrated during arguments with Twilight, giving his tone a sharper edge.
  • His humor is dry and sarcastic, but around friends his voice softens with warmth.
  • In NDOH, his voice balances reliability with the vulnerability of figuring out who he is beyond being Twilight’s helper.

Line

(Spike tries to convince Twilight to join them at a party, but she shuts him down rather harshly. When he confronts her about it, he realizes she may have been summoned by the Queen, and panics, having assumed they were on a break.)

Spike: You know that wasn’t cool Twilight, Moondancer really- wait. The Queen? Why? Are we being summoned? Did we have a test we forgot!?

(Celestia asks Twilight to make friends during her visit to Ponyville, which offends her as she insists she already has friends. Spike, aware she doesn’t truly connect with others, tries to be honest while softening the truth.)

Spike: Weeeeeell, I don’t know about frieeeends? Maybe… FRIEND-ly acquaintances?

(By this point, Twilight’s constant fixation on Nightmare Moon has made planning an event difficult. Spike grows tired and frustrated that she won’t set aside her pride or consider what others want. He just wants to spend time with her, but her spiraling thoughts leave him feeling pushed aside.)

Spike: Look, I get it. You’re smart. You like solving problems. But not everything is a problem, Twilight. Sometimes you just need to be with ponies, not try to fix everything.

(It turns out Twilight was right all along. The last thing Spike said to her was spoken in anger before she left, and the next time he sees her, she’s been attacked by Nightmare Moon. He spends hours crying at her side, waiting for her to wake. When she finally does, he’s overwhelmed with relief, sobbing and trying to apologize a thousand times over.)

Spike: (sobbing) Twilight! Oh, thank Celestia you’re okay! I’m so, so sorry! I should’ve believed you. I was so awful to you, and I’ll never doubt you again, I promise!

Laughing:

  • One soft giggle.

  • One full, out-loud laugh.

Grunts:

  • One exertion grunt, as if lifting something heavy.

  • One startled grunt, as if you’ve just tripped and fallen.

Crying:

Spike’s songs carry a lot of emotional weight. He only really sings when he’s feeling something big, either really sad or genuinely happy, and he wants every word to land. His voice should sound clear and intentional, with that slightly older preteen tone coming through.

Applejack

About Applejack

Pronouns: She/Her

Age Range: 22 - 26

Voice: Mid - Low

Accent: Western, Cowgirl

(We’d love to hear your version of this character)

In New Dawn of Harmony, Applejack is an earth pony who believes in action and responsibility, not overthinking. She was shaped by responsibility early on due to her parents death, and because of that she trusts hard work, instincts, and things she can see with her own eyes. Plans are fine, but action matters more. If something’s wrong, you fix it. Simple as that.

When trouble shows up, Applejack steps into protector mode. She takes charge, makes quick decisions, and does what she thinks will keep everypony safe. She relies heavily on her own judgment, which makes her dependable, but it also means she can be stubborn and slow to consider other perspectives. Letting go of control doesn’t come easily when you’ve spent your life holding everything together.

Being around her friends teaches her that strength doesn’t mean carrying everything alone. She starts learning to listen and to trust that others are capable too, and sometimes protecting somepony means stepping back instead of stepping in.

Personality Notes:

  • Applejack’s voice is warm, steady, and dependable, shaped by hard work and her natural southern drawl.
  • She sounds confident, but when she relaxes, there’s a gentle softness in her tone.
  • Around trusted friends, she shows a playful, teasing humor grounded in how well she reads others.
  • When frustrated, her voice sharpens, not in anger, but from trying to keep everything together.
  • In NDOH, her voice should balance strength and vulnerability, reflecting her struggle with control and her deeply caring nature.

(Even though Applejack is busy, she always takes time to welcome new ponies she’s never seen before. She is a sales pony at heart so she always makes herself open and reachable. She isn’t speaking too fast or too slow.)

Applejack: Well, howdy there! Welcome to Sweet Apple Acres! I’m Applejack! Don’t think I’ve seen ya’ll round these parts before. What can I do ya for?

(Applejack speaks with clear pride when she talks about her family. She deeply values their hard work and never misses a chance to praise them.)

Applejack: Sure as sugar are! Every pie, fritter, and drop of cider comes with the Apple family stamp of care. We don’t serve nothin’ we wouldn’t eat ourselves.

(Everyone has just witnessed Nightmare Moon and her cult attack and capture their friends and loved ones. They retreat to the library for safety, where Applejack tends to Twilight’s wounds. She’s deeply worried, but holds herself together for everyone else’s sake.)

Applejack: Twilight, we’re mighty glad you’re awake. We managed to hightail it outta there with ya before things got worse. Figured you’d be the only one who might know what in tarnation’s goin’ on.

(Applejack offers reassurance to Twilight after she has feelings that she might not be a good friend. Applejack comforts her while honestly reminding her that they believe she would do the right thing.)

Applejack: You’ll never know exactly how you’ll act ‘til the moment comes. But Twi, we’ve seen how much you care. You’re doing all of this to save Equestria! We know you’d stand by us, just like we’re standin’ by you.

Laughing:

  • One soft giggle.

  • One full, out-loud laugh.

Grunts:

  • One exertion grunt, as if lifting something heavy with magic.

  • One startled grunt, as if you’ve just tripped and fallen.

Crying:

Applejack’s songs are mostly a warm, country vibe and often pretty upbeat. A lot of her songs move a bit faster, so having clear wording and solid breath control helps keep that down-to-earth, energetic feel.

Rarity

About Rarity

Pronouns: She/Her

Age Range: 22 - 28

Voice: Self-assured, Mid - High

Accent: British/English Transatlantic

(We’d love to hear your version of this character)

In New Dawn of Harmony, Rarity is a unicorn who sees potential everywhere, especially in others. She’s creative, ambitious, and deeply perceptive, with an instinct for beauty that goes far beyond fashion. To Rarity, presentation matters because it reflects care. If something is worth loving, it’s worth making shine.

Rarity’s instinct is to do more when given the chance. She gives more, plans bigger, and pushes herself to meet impossibly high standards, both for herself and those around her. That generosity is genuine, but it can slip into control or judgment when she believes she knows what’s best. Her emotions run big, and when things don’t go her way, she can become a diva.

Her friendships are what ground her. They teach Rarity that not every act of love has to be grand to be meaningful. Over time, she learns to slow down, listen, and appreciate sincerity over perfection. Her friends don’t dim her sparkle, but they help her realize that her greatest strength isn’t how beautifully she creates, but how deeply she cares.

Personality Notes:

  • Rarity’s voice is expressive, classy, and a bit dramatic. She speaks with a stylized Transatlantic accent, a blend of upper-class American and British English reminiscent of early 20th-century Hollywood glamour.
  • She cares deeply about how others see her; hurt or dismissal makes her voice crack or sharpen.
  • When overwhelmed or losing control, she can spiral into emotional meltdowns, fast talking, sighing, raised tone.
  • She’s witty, clever, and surprisingly direct, though her voice softens around close friends and brightens when she talks about her passions.
  • In NDOH, her voice should balance her strong confidence with the insecurity of feeling unseen.

(Rarity knows who she is and how wonderful she is to be around and work with. She carries herself with grace and elegance, and never misses a chance to speak proudly about the projects she’s working on.)

Rarity: Yes I am! Oh! You must be Twilight Sparkle and Spike! The Mayor mentioned you’d be stopping by. Welcome to my masterpiece in progress.

(Rarity becomes overwhelmed when things go wrong, panicking at the thought that they won’t have the right materials to finish the decorations.)

Rarity: Burlap!? For a royal celebration!? No, no, no, this simply won’t do! Didn’t you see my sketches!?

(Rarity has a natural ability to recalibrate when things go wrong and can quickly think outside the box. She knows others are just as capable and she delights in teamwork, encouraging creative minds and reminding them they can achieve anything they set their hearts on.)

Rarity: An excellent suggestion, darling! You see, creativity is simply about looking at what you have and finding ways to make it shine.

(Rarity has a strong aversion to dirt and mud, of which the Everfree has plenty. She struggles to accept that nature is simply nature, and that it can be messy sometimes.)

Rarity: Ugh! This place is absolutely filthy! I can feel the grime sinking into my coat!

Rarity: Well, it’s unacceptable. Nature really ought to consider tidying up after itself once in a while.

Laughing:

  • One soft giggle.

  • One full, out-loud laugh.

Grunts:

  • One exertion grunt, as if lifting something heavy with magic.

  • One startled grunt, as if you’ve just tripped and fallen.

Rainbow Dash

About Rainbow Dash

Pronouns: She/Her

Age Range: 20 - 25

Voice: Tomboyish, Slightly Raspy, Mid

Accent: General American

(We’d love to hear your version of this character)

In New Dawn of Harmony, Rainbow Dash is a pegasus who lives for the thrill. She believes in speed, skill, and proving yourself through action. Confidence is her armor and living fast is how she avoids standing still long enough to doubt herself. If she keeps moving forward, she doesn’t have to look back.

Rainbow Dash has a habit of charging headfirst in stressful situations. Loyalty is her strongest trait, and once you’re her friend, she’ll fight the world for you. However, her impulsiveness can make her dismissive of feelings she doesn’t immediately understand.

Her friends are what teach her balance. Being part of a team shows Rainbow that strength isn’t just about being the fastest or the best. It’s about showing up, listening, and sometimes slowing down. Friendship helps shape her into a leader who inspires through action and heart.

Personality Notes:

  • Rainbow’s voice is quick, confident, and full of attitude, matching her nonstop, high-energy personality.
  • When she feels underestimated, her tone tightens or turns snappy; stress makes her talk even faster.
  • Sarcasm is her go-to, used to tease, deflect, or hide emotions she doesn’t want seen.
  • She’s impatient and thinks fast, but around close friends her voice warms, especially when talking about things she loves like flying.
  • In NDOH, her voice should balance her tough, braggy exterior with the insecurity she tries hard to hide.

(Rainbow Dash struggles to stop the weather team from arguing about who’s to blame for unexpected fog. She desperately tries to come up with a plan, but keeps hitting dead ends.)

Rainbow Dash: UGH, both of you zip it! We got a real problem here, let’s figure that out first! If we all fly in a wide sweep, we can clear this fog out in one go. Fast and simple.

(Rainbow Dash becomes firm and decisive, a true leader.)

Rainbow Dash: Listen up, everypony! We’re gonna clear this fog, and we’re gonna do it together! You two- (pointing to the arguing pegasi) -you’re taking the outer edges. Work together, no excuses. Got it?

( Rainbow Dash becomes impatient. She wants to take action against Nightmare Moon's minions, but feels trapped by her friends wanting to stay safe behind locked doors.)

Rainbow Dash: Help? How are we supposed to help anypony when those maniacs are locking everypony in their homes? This is a disaster!

(The Mane 6 comforts Twilight after she has feelings that she isn't a good friend, reassuring her that they trust her heart and believe she would always do the right thing.)

Rainbow Dash: And hey, even if you’re still figuring it out, that just proves you want to be a good friend. That’s way more important than pretending you’ve got it all down already.

Laughing:

  • One soft giggle.

  • One full, out-loud laugh.

Pinkie Pie

About Pinkie Pie

Pronouns: She/Her

Age Range: 20 - 25

Voice: Cutesy, High

Accent: General American

(We’d love to hear your version of this character)

In New Dawn of Harmony, Pinkie Pie is an earth pony who measures the world in smiles. She believes that if everypony is laughing, then everything must be okay. Fun is her love language, and connection is her goal.

When something feels wrong, Pinkie’s instinct is to fix it with more effort. She gives out more jokes, bigger plans, and even louder cheer. She’s incredibly attentive to the people around her and can often notice details others miss, but she struggles when her version of happiness isn’t reciprocated. If somepony isn’t smiling, she tends to assume she’s failed, even if it has nothing to do with her.

Her friendships show her that joy doesn’t always look the same for everyone. Over time, Pinkie learns that she doesn’t have to perform to be loved. Her friends help her understand that her care is felt even in the moments when she needs to lower her energy.

Personality Notes:

  • Pinkie’s voice is bright, fast, and full of excitement, like she’s always thinking several steps ahead.
  • She fears being “too much” and worries constantly about annoying others or not fitting in.
  • When she thinks she’s disappointed someone, her voice tightens, trembles, or goes quiet.
  • Her anxiety can spiral into frantic talking, loud laughter, or emotional crashes when she’s trying too hard to fix things.
  • In NDOH, her voice should balance her bubbly energy with her deep vulnerability and fear of being unwanted.

Pinkie Pie: Oh my gosh! New ponies! I LOVE new ponies!

(Pinkie is quickly scanning through book titles looking for something specific. She thinks she may have found it, but alas, she did not.)

Pinkie Pie: Ponytails and Braids… nope! Cooking with Hay… nope! Ooh, this one’s-nope, not it either!

(Pinkie is trying to entice Rarity to traverse through a secret passage. She starts with almost a whisper like mysterious tone, and then into a elbow nudging encouragement)

Pinkie Pie: But it smells like adventure! Come on, Rarity, it’ll be fun!

(Witnessing a very wholesome moment she is overcome with emotion and can't hold herself together.)

Fluttershy

About Fluttershy

Pronouns: She/Her

Age Range: 20 - 25

Voice: Soft/Gentle, Mid - High

Accent: General American

(We’d love to hear your version of this character)

In New Dawn of Harmony, Fluttershy is a pegasus who is gentle, observant, and incredibly attuned to the emotions of others. Where some ponies overlook each other, Fluttershy notices body language and tone that can reveal when something isn’t right.

When conflict appears, Fluttershy’s instinct is to avoid confrontation at all costs. She worries about upsetting others and often turns her concern inward, assuming she’s done something wrong. Her softness can oftentimes look like weakness, but it isn’t.

Her friends help her realize that her voice matters. With their support, Fluttershy learns that kindness can be firm, and that speaking up doesn’t make her cruel. She doesn’t become louder or bolder in a flashy way, but she becomes braver in small, meaningful ones. Friendship teaches her that empathy is strength, and that being gentle doesn’t mean being powerless.

Personality Notes:

  • Fluttershy’s voice is soft, careful, and often sounds apologetic, as she tries not to take up space.
  • She feels like others don’t really need her, which leads her to pull away or stay alone.
  • Large gatherings overwhelm her; anxiety makes her voice even quieter and her sentences short and cautious.
  • Around trusted friends or when compassion is needed, her voice becomes steadier and gently confident.
  • In NDOH, her voice should show both her shyness and the quiet bravery she discovers when it truly matters.

(She is nervously suggesting a course of action that may help the Mane 6.)

Fluttershy: (timidly) Maybe… maybe there’s something here that could help? In the library, I mean.

(Impressed and shocked that Twilight hatched Spikes Egg and awestruck at the thought of baby spike.)

Fluttershy: (gasping) You hatched Spike’s egg? That’s… incredible! Oh, you must’ve been such a tiny little dragon!

(Pleading to Twilight not to think of herself as a bad friend..)

Fluttershy: We’ve only been friends for a day, but we care about you, Twilight. You’re so smart, and kind, and you try so hard and we want to help you!

Queen Celestia

About Queen Celestia

Pronouns: She/Her

Age Range: 40’s

Voice: Calming, Mid

Accent: General American

(We’d love to hear your version of this character)

In New Dawn of Harmony, Queen Celestia is an Alicorn ruler who believes in harmony above all else, but her version of it was built through thousands of years of life lessons. To Celestia, leadership means carrying the weight so others wouldn’t have to.

Due to many problems it’s created, she has a habit of withholding information, testing others indirectly, and plans several moves ahead. That wisdom keeps things stable, but can cause many to distrust her over time.

What challenges Celestia in NDOH is watching the next generation lead differently. Over time, Celestia is forced to confront the limits of her approach and accept that stepping back isn’t negligence. It’s faith. Her growth comes from learning that harmony doesn’t need a single guardian anymore, and that the future is safer when it’s shared among others.

Personality Notes:

  • Celestia’s voice is calm, steady, and controlled, shaped by over a thousand years of hard choices and heartbreak.
  • There’s weight in every word she speaks, giving her an imposing, almost regal presence.
  • Beneath that strength is a warm, comforting tone that can make any pony feel safe and cared for.
  • She fills a room with her ancient wisdom, yet her kindness keeps her from ever feeling cold or distant.
  • In NDOH, her voice should balance the powerful ruler she’s had to be with the gentle, nurturing guide she chooses to be.

(Happy to see her student but surprised that it's during what she thought was a break from their studies..)

Celestia: Twilight Sparkle, my faithful student. And Spike! What brings you here today? I believe we agreed you’re on a break, correct?

(Stepping up to her sister as Nightmare Moon.)

Celestia: (voice ringing, unshaken) That is enough, Luna.

Celestia:  (calm but firm) This ends tonight.

(Overswept with the emotions of reuniting with her sister, a deep sense of regret is washing over her. She genuinely wants her sisters forgivness)

Celestia: (voice breaking as tears spill down her cheeks) No, Sister. It was pain that consumed you. Pain I was too blind to see. I thought I was protecting Equestria by standing above you, by shouldering everything alone… but I left you in the shadows without realizing it. For that… I am truly sorry.

(Talking to Spike who is taking a letter for her, she speaks with conviction and confidence. Her sense of pride shining through for her pupil.)

Celestia: From this day forth, Twilight will continue her studies, among those who have taught her what true harmony means. She will study the bonds that tie us together, the lessons friendship has to teach, and the ways it can shape not only her, but all of Equestria.

Laughing:

  • One soft giggle.

Luna / Nightmare Moon

About Luna / Nightmare Moon

Pronouns: She/Her

Age Range: 30’s

Voice: Mid - High

Accent: Over Enunciating, General American

(We’d love to hear your version of this character)

In New Dawn of Harmony, Princess Luna is an Alicorn who carries centuries of insecurity. Luna wants to be needed and to be seen as important in her own right, but she struggles to voice those needs without feeling selfish or weak.

When things go wrong, Luna tends to internalize it. She assumes she’s the problem and that she should have done more or been better. That self blame builds over time, turning into loneliness and resentment she doesn’t know how to handle. Her sensitivity makes her compassionate, but it also leaves her vulnerable to feeling overlooked.

What Luna needs most is understanding instead of correction. In NDOH, her growth begins when she’s finally allowed space to exist without comparison. Through genuine connection and being met with patience rather than judgment, Luna starts to heal and learns that her emotions aren’t a flaw, and that she deserves peace.

Nightmare Moon

In New Dawn of Harmony, Nightmare Moon is an embodiment of Luna’s pain. She comes from isolation, bitterness, and the belief that being ignored is worse than being feared.

When she takes control, Nightmare Moon acts decisively and loudly. She demands attention, seizes control, and refuses to be diminished in any form. To her, if others are afraid, then at least they’re looking at her.

In NDOH, Nightmare Moon isn’t just a villain to be defeated. She’s a part of Luna that formed to survive and facing her means facing the truth of that pain. Healing begins when her existence is acknowledged, when Luna no longer has to split herself apart to be accepted.

Personality Notes:

  • Luna’s voice is firm, formal, and slightly old-fashioned, shaped by missing a thousand years of social change.
  • She often sounds strict or blunt without meaning to, and can come off cold when she’s really just unsure.
  • In the dream realm, her voice softens; it’s the only place she feels truly at peace, needed, and connected.
  • She keeps herself guarded out of fear of becoming Nightmare Moon again, making her overly controlled and hard on herself.
  • Her voice should show both her strength and her constant internal worry about slipping back into darkness.

  • Nightmare Moon’s voice is Luna’s twisted, angry, bitter, and dripping with hatred.
  • She is theatrical, imposing, and cruel, speaking with venom and overwhelming confidence.
  • Her tone should feel unstable and unhinged, like she enjoys watching fear take over a room.
  • Every word carries a hunger for power, the opposite of Luna’s restraint.
  • She represents Luna’s darkest fears made real.

Nightmare Moon: Tell me, little unicorn, who’s going to stop me? Your precious Celestia? (She sneers.) She abandoned you.

(Nightmare Moon notices in Twilight a familiar feeling. She uses this to play mind games and try to chip away at Twilight's defenses.)

Nightmare Moon: Hm… interesting. That look in your eyes. You’ve felt it too, haven’t you? The same gnawing loneliness, the same doubt that eats away when everypony else shines brighter than you.

(Having just been bested in battle and ashamed of her time as Nightmare Moon she cowers at being called sister.)

Luna: (hoarse, trembling) Don’t… don’t call me that. I don’t deserve it. I turned my back on you, on everypony. All that hatred, all that anger…

(Coming around to being her old self Luna cracks a joke to lighten the mood.)

Luna: (softly chuckling) Perhaps… perhaps I have a bit of catching up to do first. A thousand years’ worth, at least.

Princess Luna is usually quiet but very firm. She only speaks when she feels she must share something important, giving everything she says a serious, deliberate tone. But in the dream realm, she’s at her calmest. Her voice becomes soft, almost hushed, like she’s finally able to breathe and just be herself.

Nightmare Moon’s voice is powerful and dripping with rage. Everything she says feels vindictive and scornful, like she’s fueled by every grudge she’s ever held. Her words hit hard, sharp, and full of fury.

(We’d love to hear your version of this character)

In New Dawn of Harmony, Mayor Mare is a pony who works herself nonstop. Her mind moves fast while constantly juggling plans, deadlines, and problems that need fixing right now. She’s deeply committed to Ponyville, even if it means running on pure momentum.

  • Frequently interrupts or finishes others’ sentences without meaning to
  • Practical, efficient, and constantly multitasking

  • Cares deeply about Ponyville and feels personally responsible for keeping everything running smoothly.

(We’d love to hear your version of this character)

In New Dawn of Harmony, Night Light is a well meaning dad who worries too much. He’s protective to the point of hovering and always trying to shield his kids from harm, even when they don’t need it. Between work and responsibility, he never feels like he spends enough time with them and that guilt fuels his need to keep them close.

Personality Notes:

  • Super caring and protective, especially when it comes to his kids
  • Tends to hover and worry, even over small things
  • Shows love through concern and preparation rather than words
  • Feels lingering guilt about not spending enough time with his family (even though he totally does)
  • A deeper, more mature male voice. Calm and steady, with a grounded everyday tone. Sounds like a normal, reliable dad rather than a dramatic authority figure
