GISD Mindful Minute Resources
(all activities are designed to be between 1-5 minutes)
Mindfulness can be defined as the ability to be fully aware of the present environment and not overreact or become overwhelmed with what else is happening around us.
Here are a few resources you can use for the implementation of a mindful minute on your campus. These are a few helpful suggestions but you are not required to use these resources.

Scripted Activities (can be used alone or paired with Lofi sounds from above) |
(Breathing Script) Sit comfortably and place one hand on your stomach. Breathe in through your nose for 4…3…2...1, then hold your breath for 4...3...2...1 seconds, and then release the breath slowly through your mouth for 6...5...4...3...2...1. (Practice for 1 to 3 minutes) (Grounding Script) Find an object within the room to focus on for the next minute(s). Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth slowly. Think about how that object looks……. does it have a sound……. does it have a smell…...does it have a taste…...how might it feel in your hand. Now return your attention to my voice. (Body Mindfulness Script) Take 10 slow, deep breaths. Notice the feelings passing through your body, simply observe them without trying to change them, notice these feelings with an attitude of acceptance. (Grounding Script) Pause and listen to the sound (LoFi link), Slowly look around and notice 5 things you can see/hear/feel and be present in this moment. (Breathing Script) Rainbow Breath: Close your eyes and sit in a comfortable position. Imagine a beautiful vibrant rainbow. Breathe in gently through your nose and out through your mouth imagining the color red. Breathe in again through your nose and out through your mouth imagining the color orange. Repeat this process for the remaining colors (yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet) of the rainbow until you have finished the entire rainbow. |
