Title - Gummy worm experiment

Purpose: What do you want to learn/find out?

To find out what happens when you mix a solution of calcium chloride and water with sodium alginate.

Hypothesis: Try to predict the answer to the problem. Another term for hypothesis is ‘educated guess’. This is usually stated like ” If I…(do something) then…(this will occur)

It think that it is gonna turn into something gooey and be a different colour.

Materials: List everything you will need to conduct your experiment.

Calcium chloride, sodium alginate, water, pipettes, medium plastic cup, and small plastic cup.

Experiment procedure: The fun part! Design a test or procedure to confirm or disprove your hypothesis. Write down each step so that someone else could do the same experiment.

  1. We put calcium chloride in the water and mixed it until all of it dissolved.
  2. The we put little drops sodium alginate  in the water
  3. Then it turned into little gummy worms

Analysis/Data: Record what happened during the experiment.

The calcium chloride in the medium plastic cup of water and then mixed it until it all dissolved. Then we put coloured sodium alginate in and then that's when it turned into worms.

Conclusion:Review the data and check to see if your hypothesis was correct.

My hypothesis was correct because it was actually gooey but actually turned out to be like a gummy worm.
