Sr. Fund Accounting Developer
A Senior Developer in the Fund Accounting Technology Group at S|A|C liaises with the Financial Reporting, Tax, Fund Accounting, and Operations teams to design and build strategic solutions for a wide range of business problems. The Geneva accounting system is at the core of these solutions. A set of components built on the .Net framework facilitate integration with the rest of the Back Office platform. This individual will assist with the expansion of the existing platform as well as future development.
Specific responsibilities include:
-Building out the External Reporting platform to facilitate automation of regulatory filing
-Working with end users to design new processes and customize Geneva to meet specific needs defined by Accounting and Operations staff
-Translating business specifications to complete technical specifications including time and resource estimations
-Designing and building software leveraging Geneva and SQL platforms
-Understanding the entire back office technology infrastructure and what role fund accounting technology plays in the domain
-Strong programming experience with Microsoft SQL Server required
-Strong Microsoft Excel skills required
-Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services a plus
-Familiarity with C# or Java a plus
-Experience with a variety of financial instruments, products and services required
-Superior communication, presentation and analytical skills required
-Experience with the Advent Geneva platform or a similar portfolio accounting system required
-Education: B.S. degree required in accounting, computer science, finance or related discipline
IT - Configuration Management
Configuration Management team at SAC Capital owns and supports the Firm’s SDLC practices and tools, facilitates software build, packaging, release process and its improvements; ensures implementation of regulatory compliance practices and controls. The responsibilities of CM Engineer include:
•Daily interaction with software developers to support software source control, build, packaging, release, and deployment.
•Ownership and improvement of enterprise CM tools, servers and databases.
•Authoring and management of MSI installers for all types of Windows-based applications.
•Set-up of software distribution packages for automated software delivery and installation.
•Working closely with all IT Development and Infrastructure groups, staff training; supporting the Firm’s SDLC practices and implementation of compliance standards.
•Proactive interaction with Software Development and Infrastructure managers and team leads to continuously improve and optimize the software release and deployment process.
•Maintenance and improvement of group’s custom .NET and Java software, DOS scripts, and various automations, documenting group’s processes and procedures.
Our ideal candidate will be someone who is highly motivated, driven, and has extensive experience in the field of Configuration Management in a financial institution. This person must have hands-on experience in managing CM tools, MSI software packaging, have the ability to work independently through highly complex issues and is comfortable working in fast-paced environment with frequently changing priorities.
Additionally, the candidate will possess the following qualifications:
•BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
•At least 5 years experience in CM role within financial organization, attention to detail, ability to multi-task.
•Expert understanding of CM practices in a context of a Software Development Life Cycle
•Strong source control, bug-tracking, knowledge-base, and Windows system administration skills. Knowledge of SVN, JIRA, Confluence, Bamboo, and FishEye is a plus.
•Expert hands-on knowledge of MSI technology and software packaging using InstallShield for client, service, agents, web services, console applications and IIS webs is a must. InstallShield scripting is a big plus.
•Software distribution using LANDesk or Altiris deployment solution. Understanding of deployment scheduling, software pre-requisites.
•Extensive knowledge of Windows OS, understanding of cluster and load-balancing technologies.
•Strong DOS scripting; knowledge of PowerShell, and Unix Korn shell is a plus.
•Beginner to intermediate knowledge of .NET programming –ability to understand, maintain and improve CM custom apps.
•Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, ability to develop and maintain relationships across the IT organization and at all levels
Develop solutions to provide customized reporting and analysis tools for Compliance staff. Developer is expected to work closely with team lead as he/she works either independently or within a team. Should be self motivated and have a deep passion for technology with concentrated focus on Object Oriented programming and SQL.
General responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•Capable of making independent decisions while mitigating risk
•Understand and own technology aspects of the firm’s primary Compliance systems
•Maintain the efficiency and upkeep of Compliance related systems
•Generate ad hoc quantitative and qualitative analysis for users to reflect market events
The person in this role must have a strong understanding of software lifecycle and design of multi-tier/distributed systems. In addition to strong technical skills, the candidate must have excellent communication/interpersonal skills, possess a strong ability to work independently or as a team member and a working knowledge of market structure and trading systems in domestic and international markets.
A strong desire to learn and gain exposure to the business side of a trading operation and the Compliance related aspects of the business is critical to success in this position.
5-7 years of experience in a formal development environment with 3-4 years developing or supporting financial data applications preferred.
-Ongoing design, development and maintenance of new and existing Compliance applications and systems
-Must have ability to take a project from specifications to deployment in the SAC environment
-Ability to communicate via producing documentation at all levels, client service and technical writing skills, coupled with a strong interest in further developing and integrating systems knowledge with technology skills

Field experience working on a computer science project in a real-world setting under the joint direction of a supervisor from industry and a faculty advisor.
Completion of the following course work:
oExperience should include the use of data types and variables, programming control constructs supported by modern languages, input/output, basic concepts of OO programming (such as classes, objects, encapsulation, information hiding, and code reuse).
oBasic concepts of modern database management systems. Topics covered should include: data models, query languages, integrity constraints, indexing, query optimization, and transaction management.
oUnderstanding of some of the fundamental challenges in the design, implementation and deployment of large-scale distributed systems.

Financial Planning and Analysis
•Serve as the lead Finance person on all Technology initiatives; Participate in Technology meetings with department managers, directors, the CTO and the CAO.
•Create and manage complex, comprehensive models that will be used to understand the costs, benefits and drivers of various Technology initiatives and services.
•Perform financial analyses on an ongoing basis, including budget to actual variance reporting, for both capital project budgets and operating budgets.
•Lead the preparation of an annual operating budget and strategic plan for Technology.
•Lead the modeling of cost allocations to various business strategies and locations to derive a fully-allocated P&L.
•Lead the preparation, coordination and review of a quarterly reporting package for Senior Management.
•Manage ad-hoc requests to support the strategic goals of the business.
•Develop executive level presentations and present quantitative, qualitative and technical findings in clear, concise, and compelling manner that will drive action plans.

This role favors the extremely analytical (i.e., like to roll up their sleeves with data, spreadsheets, and models) who thrive on the challenges inherent in dissecting complex problems and delivering recommendations to improve results.
The position requires a balance of both analytical and communication skills. The candidate must have the ability to obtain the information needed from co-workers and disparate data sources, while meeting deadlines. At the same time, the candidate must feel comfortable building Excel models and providing the insights, both intuitive and counter-intuitive, that shape business decisions.
•BS Degree in Finance or Accounting required; MBA a plus.
•Minimum of 7 years professional experience in corporate finance environment supporting an Information Technology function.
