‘A Striking Portrait’, Madras Mail, 23 February 1929
Mr. Philip de Laszlo, whose arresting portrait of the Prince of Piedmont in the full splendour of Renaissance costume [7890] has attracted much attention, is going to add two more pictures to his considerable gallery of royalties; for he is leaving for Egypt, where King Fuad and Queen Nazli will sit to him.
He has just finished a portrait of Lady Bowden [2875], who is tall and handsome. She tells me that she is delighted with the work. She was painted wearing a pair of very fine emerald earrings, and her big emerald brooch stood out boldly against the background of her black velvet dress.
