Position: Board Game Room Assistant
This position supports the smooth running of the Board Game Area. Please review the “General Information” document for a full description of expectations for all InCON volunteers.
This individual will report directly to Sean and/or Rita Mulligan - referred to as the ‘board game coordinators’ (position: Organizing Committee Member - Board Gaming)
The Board Game Area will have tables set up where convention attendees can play board games, and will also run a number of board game tournaments. This area will also be shared with Game Demo’s, which are overseen by the Game Demo Coordinator.
Board Game Room Assistants will familiarize themselves with the games that are available to sign out, and the games that are being run as tournaments. They will be available to man the Board Game Sign Out Table and will also be available to assist in setup and take-down of board game tournaments. Board Game Room Assistants will answer any questions convention attendees have regarding the games, and with time and circumstances permitting may demo a game that they are familiar with. Should there be other duties required, this individual will be available to perform these duties to ensure the smooth running of the Board Game Area.
Board Game Room Assistants will definitely be board game enthusiasts! They should have at least a minimum amount of knowledge and experience playing the tournament games (“Settlers of Catan”, “Ticket to Ride”, “Lords of Waterdeep” and “Dominion”), and at least a ‘good’ amount of knowledge and experience with most of the games on the Game List. Being front-line with convention attendees, Assistants must be friendly and personable, and know how to explain game rules and strategies in a way that people will understand.
