Today's topic is «Countries and Nationalities». You'll remember the names of some countries of Europe and learn about some English-speaking countries of the world.

Т: So we live in one big world. There are many different countries. You already know some of the countries in Europe. Now we'll learn about some of the English-speaking countries and about people who live there.

1. Робота з картою

Повторення назв країн Європи; ознайомлення з назвами англомовних країн світу.

Look at the map of the world at pages 4—5 of your textbook. Here you can see some of the countries of the world. Which of these countries do you know from last year?

Учні називають знайомі країни.

But some of the countries are new for you.

Point and repeat: Canada, the USA/America, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand.

These countries are English-speaking: it means that the people speak English and it is their native language there.

Гра «Країни світу».

Учитель роздає картки із зображенням прапорів країн, назви яких було вивчено (HOj), і називає одну з країн, а учні повинні підняти картки з прапором цієї країни.

Ознайомлення з назвами національностей.

We live in Ukraine. We are Ukrainians. And what are the people from other countries called?

Учитель пише на дошці назви національностей тих країн, що їх було вивчено або повторено цього уроку, а учні повинні усно визначити, якій країні відповідає назва якої національності. Наприклад, учитель пише національність: French. Учні називають країну: Ps: France!

Учні хором читають за вчителем назви країн і національностей. Потім самостійно читають речення, що ілюструють новий матеріал. Далі вчитель просить учнів усно закінчити речення, які він розпочинає.

Т: We are from Ukraine, we are... Ps: Ukrainians.

They are from Britain/France etc, they are...

T: Ukrainians/Americans speak. Учні хором закінчують речення.

4) Робота в парах.

Imagine you are from different countries (pupils received the cards with the flags  on them). Your task is to learn from what country your interlocutor.

Учні уявляють, що вони приїхали з різних країн (з якої саме, кожен дізнається, отримавши картку із зображенням прапора країни). Завдання учнів — дізнатися, з якої країни «приїхав» співрозмовник, запитавши про його національність.

Рх: Are you American?

Р2: No, I’m not.

P5: Are you a New Zealander?

P2: No, I’m not.

Px: Are you German?

P2: Yes, I’m.

P3. Are you from Germany?

P2: Yes, I’m.
