Part 1. Obedience to the Lord Jesus

Lesson 7: The obedience to the Lord Jesus in the aspect of spiritual gifts

The memory verse of this message: "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." (2 Chronicles 7:14).

Repeating of the lesson 6

1. The ministry of liberation in the aspect of obedience to the Lord

2. The ministry of miracles in the aspect of obedience to the Lord

Repeating the points of the lesson 6

Attention! Build a targeted ministry in this gift, to gather people around the manifestation of this gift, as well as to open the service, based on the gift of the Holy Spirit without acknowledging the Lord - this lawlessness is going on in his flock, among His sheep.

  1. The Ministry of Deliverance in the aspect of obedience to the Lord

Recall a part of the verse that we have read: “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name?” (Matthew 7:21-22).

Now we continue to read more: “…and in thy name have cast out devils?” (Matthew 7:22). I recall these are the words of those who are in dismay. Those who believe that Jesus placed them among the goats is unfair because in their understanding what they did seems unto them that they obey Him. “Why did you put us among the disobedient goats?” “…and in thy name done many wonderful works?” (Matthew 7:22)

Attention to the question: "Casting out demons to release the man from their power – is it a sin?". No. “And to help get rid of the demons’ power on hundreds of people – is it a sin?” No. Jesus Himself said, personally: “Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give…” (Matthew 10:8), and again: “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils…” (Mark 16:17). It means that it should be done, showing the power of the Lord Jesus on earth and claiming His kingdom. And they did it, prayed for the deliverance of the people from the power of demons, conducted services, opened the groups for the peoples' liberation. And when they did it, they saw that the demons came out and people are freed. And of course, when the demon comes out and a person is experiencing liberation - it is joyful, and he will be very grateful and will reward you for the glory of God. And then again and again he will thank you, and not one person, and perhaps hundreds and thousands.

Question: “As you might think, after seeing such clear manifestations of deliverance, can this start thinking that this is his calling? That it is God's plan for him?” Yes, and precisely such thoughts their mind gave them. So they were very surprised that they are standing among the goats. The surprised were not the ones who may have cast out a couple of times, and then fell into sin. No. The surprised were those who served in the deliverance ministry for long time on conferences and mass meetings. Attention! In their mind, they thought that these spiritual manifestations of the power (and sometimes massive) - is the confirmation of direct obedience to the Lord. This prompted them to engage in it more actively, increasing the service. Attention!

The mind of born again can represent the work of power in the name of Jesus as his immediate obedience to the Lord. "They are obedient and go, because you obey to the Lord" And occasionally it will be heard from the mouth of the people. Attention!

Their mistake was in the fact that, using the power in the name of Jesus to such a level of service, they did not ask the Lord What He wants them to do, what His plans are for them. Like many born-again, seeing the power in the name of Jesus, the first thought of the not enough renewed mind is: “God encourages me be in the ministry of deliverance.” And without inquiring the Lord, and if they even ask, they do not wait for a clear answer, begin to organize the service and transfer it to a large-scale level. And their mind again and again says: “Demons are obedient and come out, because you obey the Lord.” Although, if you listen to the Spirit, something in the spirit feels wrong.

But the mind, sticking its thoughts, said: "This is the pressure of Satan, he wants to knock you out of the service." As born-again people began to study and practice the spiritual tools for the implementation of the tasks, they think are correct. A manifestation of spiritual gifts and tools are seen as an indication that God approves their actions and that it speaks of their obedience to God.

So, being passionate about results, this person does not have time to stop and get a crisp and clear evidence of what the Lord says he should do. Attention!

We read again: “Not every one that saith unto me, ‘Lord, Lord’, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils and in thy name done many wonderful works?” (Matthew 7:21-22), and finally He said to them, “And then…” (Matthew 7:23), or after they said this to Me this in dismay, “…will I profess unto them, (everyone who spoke): I never knew you…” (Matthew 7:23). The words "I never knew you", do not say that they were not born again. No. The new birth is the gift of God, through which you enter into the kingdom of the Lord Jesus, but to ask him afterwards what to do, whether you associate with Him and to know His plans and intentions for you, all depends on you.

The Words of the Lord “…I never knew you…” (Matthew 7:23) are literally saying: “Everything that you do among my people, you have done supposedly from me, but you did not talk with Me about it and did not ask me what I want you to do. You were alone and on your own.”

Attention! Where you find yourself in eternity, is not determined only by the fact that you are born again, and that the demons are subject to the name of Jesus, when you apply it. No.

Here, as it shown in one of the stories: «And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name» (Luke 10:17). What they saw and what was going on, made them very happy. Every one of them in their mind, perhaps, began to see themselves in the service of thousands. And their minds, perhaps crying, told them: “Yes, yes, it is what we need! This is something that will change everything!”

Now let us read on what Jesus said to keep the focus of their attention to: “Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven” (Luke 10:20). Jesus described to them to do all the necessary things to be written in His book of life (Revelation 13:8; Revelation 21:27).

Attention! I emphasize more on the foundation of the ministry of deliverance, rather than one-time periodic exorcism. So, at the foundation of the ministry of deliverance should be the obedience to the Lord Jesus. In that order, the person committed to it will be different. He will not only shape and organize his ministry, but also where this minister will be afterwards.

2. The ministry of miracles in the aspect of obedience to the Lord

They that spoke with disturbance, all those who were among the goats, and what they say, can be very surprising, read: “…and in thy name done many wonderful works?” (Matthew 7:22). In their dismay, they do not speak about the healings and minor manifestations. No. Question: “What is a miracle?”

Miracle – is when a broken arm has grown not in three weeks, but by prayer - at once. Miracle - it is when an organ or part of the body that were absent appeared there. Miracle - this is when the five loaves and two fishes multiplied in such abundance that they had enough for thousands. Miracle - a resurrection of the dead. They talked about such events, saying, “…and in thy name done many wonderful works?” (Matthew 7:22). And it was not one miracle, they said "Wonderful works", it was not one.

But from their words it is clear that the miracles which they spoke of were manifestation of power of the Spirit of the Lord, but in His name. This tells us that at the foundation of Signs and Wonders faith is laid on the name of Jesus and the very name of Jesus, not obedience to the Lord. But their mind is a cause that every miracle of their immediate obedience to the Lord Jesus. And was giving quite weak arguments: “Not everyone can do this, so you are called to this ministry and this is your obedience to the Lord.”

Question: “What do you think when they saw the miracles as a manifestation of the power of God? Will a person think that this is his calling? That its God's will for him?” Yes. And, as we have said, for them it was a reason to think that these spiritual manifestations of the Spirit's power in the name of Jesus - there is evidence of direct obedience to the Lord Jesus. Yes, perhaps, miracles have occurred in every service, and people under their influence opened the ministry of miracles and actively served people. People in their turn did not stint on thanksgiving and the one who did miracles. He himself did not hide his joy, but the Bible says: “For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth” (2 Corinthians 10:18). It was a manifestation of their faith in the power and authority of Jesus' name, but not the direct obedience to the Lord Jesus. But, as ones who cast out demons, they also might not ask God. But if they inquired of the Lord, not waiting for an answer, and in response to requests from many people, began to organize large-scale service to the sheep of the Lord, walking in His sheep not through the door.

Attention! Treat what we say correctly, miracles are important in the kingdom of the Lord Jesus, and they are part of God's gospel. But they have to be born again to become a testament to his immediate obedience to the Lord Jesus.

Obedience should be based on miracles, but miracles should be the fact that it accompanies obedience. And not miracles as the goal itself.   Course " The Glory". Lesson 7.                Page  from
