Mafia, is a game about persuasion, conspiracy, and survival. It takes place in a series of turns, rotating between a night turn and a day turn.
During the day, the players discuss, decide who to execute, and vote accordingly. During the night, actions take place. Someone is executed, someone is usually killed and something special may occur.
You must vote to execute someone every night by 6 PM GMT. Failure to do so will get you smited. If you have a special power, tell me whether or not you want to use it each night. This will be done in PM. Please include a target for your power if applicable.
Daytime begins as soon as I post the results of the previous night.
In Gotham, there are five teams. The GCPD, The Bat-Family, The Roman Empire, The League of Assassins, The Gallery of Rogues and Harvey Dent.
The basic rules:
- Execution votes must be posted by 6:00 PM, GMT (the following afternoon). Failure to comply will get you smitten. All votes must be in bold.
- I have the final say. If you disagree with me please say so, but don’t think that’ll mean I’ll change my mind.
- Don't post screenshots of private conversations here or in other conversations.
- I must be invited to all game-related conversations.
- Voting for yourself is only permitted if your ability permits it.
- Don't post in the thread once you've died. There will be a Dead Man’s Conversation which still allows you to impact the game.
- All votes require a reason (no anti-smite votes).
- Roleplay is required at least once a day. Just a line or two. Otherwise atmosphere is lost. Sorry @trajing.
- Once there are 10 Players left, 3 of them are assigned a virus. It is like an additional ability, except you can’t control it. When you receive an ability it is declared in the thread.
- Once you die, you will have your a note written by you revealed to the other players. You must PM the GM your note each night.
Win conditions:
- The GCPD and The Bat-Family win if The Roman Empire, The League of Assassins and The Gallery of Rogues all are eliminated. If The Roman Empire and The Gallery of Rogues are eliminated before The League of Assassins then they lose.
- The Roman Empire win if it is the last team left standing.
- The League of Assassins win at the elimination of The Roman Empire and The Gallery of Rogues and a member of their team is surviving at the end alongside The GCPD, The Bat-Family or themselves.
- The Gallery of Rogues win if they are the last group alive, but if they’re dead the individual player loses.
- Harvey Dent wins with which ever group he’s aligned with.
Other useful info:
- You may lock your vote to hurry the night ("I lock my vote for @Shazam08!"). Once locked, your vote can't be changed.
- All abilities are unique and everybody has one.
- Not all roles/abilities/viruses are in the game.
- Roles of the recently will not be revealed. Team allegiances will be if The Riddler is still alive.
- You may vote to execute Jason Todd (nobody), but only on the first night.
- Each time somebody is murdered a note is left by the killer, hopefully containing a clue. The note must be PMed to the GM along with each player.
- There will be several official conversations. Each team except from The Gallery of Rogues will have one. There will also be a Dead Man’s Conversation. Commissioner James Gordon and Batman will have a conversation, however neither can reveal the identities of their teammates otherwise the entirety of their teams will be smitten.
Roles and Abilities:
- The GCPD
- Commissioner James Gordon - If there is a tie with the votes he makes the final decision on who to execute.
- Detective Harvey Bullock - He has the power to detain people, preventing use of their abilities for a night.
- Detective Renee Montoya - At night she can watch someone, meaning all actions taken by the person are reported to her albeit vaguely.
- Detective Arnold John Flass - Each day he is told who to vote for by The Roman Empire via a proxy. Sofia Falcone Gigante decides who he votes for. If she dies or doesn’t exist in the game, Detective Arnold John Flass has no abilities.
- Sergeant Sarah Essen Gordon - She will only stop short of murder to see The Joker get the chair. She must attempt to discover the identity of The Joker and persuade others to execute him. If The Joker dies by execution she gets an extra life. If The Joker dies otherwise she dies.
- The Bat-Family
- Batman - Each night he is given a clue to the identity of The Gallery of Rogues. Overpowered? Maybe. Oh, you have a problem with that? What are you, retarded or something? He's the Goddamn Batman!
- Nightwing - Swaps two people around each night, so if someone targets someone targeted by Nightwing, their target will be swapped with Nightwing’s other target.
- Red Robin - He can prevent someone from dying each night. He can only select himself once. He’ll also know if his target is attacked.
- Robin - If he dies, Batman cannot use his ability for three turns.
- Batgirl - Each night she can scan a player and find out their role. She can share her findings.
- Jason Todd - He cannot vote, and has no special powers. He dies if not lynched on the first day. Because fuck Jason Todd.
- The Roman Empire
- Carmine Falcone - Every night he can vote for who The Roman Empire should murder. If there is a tie with the votes he has the deciding vote.
- Sal Maroni - Each night he can vote for who The Roman Empire should murder. If Carmine Falcone dies, he has the deciding vote if there is a tie.
- Sofia Falcone Gigante - She has a player randomly selected at the beginning of the game. She can only win along with the rest of The Roman Empire if this person receives the chair. She can also vote towards whom The Roman Empire murders each night.
- Alberto Falcone - Every night he can vote for who The Roman Empire should murder. When The Roman Empire votes to kill someone then he can leave a note framing someone. Every Monday he must mention the fact it is indeed a Monday.
- The Penguin - He can vote each night for whom The Roman Empire should murder.
- The League of Assassins
- Ra’s Al Ghul - Each turn he can revive one person.
- Bane - Each night he selects one person to incapacitate. This means they can neither vote nor use their abilities. It is announced in the thread and the victim does not get smitten for not voting. They still must contribute to the thread though.
- Talia Al Ghul - She must vote for the person with the lowest number of votes at the time of her vote. If there is a tie, she may choose between the tied players. This does not apply on the first day.
- Lady Shiva - When she dies all players gain an additional life.
- Merlyn - He can shoot arrows. On occasion he can be John Barrowman. That's kind of cool.
- The Gallery of Rogues
- The Joker - When he dies he gains the ability to kill someone, freely. If he’s targeted by any GCPD or Bat-Family players they die. If a person dies this way, The Joker must release a joke into the thread.
- The Riddler - Whilst he’s alive the alignments of each player is revealed after they die.
- Black Mask - Each night he’s given the option to douse a person in petrol or burn everyone he’s doused. He can only burn his chain of people once. Each time he douses someone they are warned. If he's killed the players no longer are doused in petrol.
- Catwoman - Each night, she can distract someone from using their ability. If she distracts any members of The Gallery of Rogues she dies.
- Clayface - Each night he selects a random player and gains their ability and role for the turn. They appear to have this ability to Batgirl.
- Harvey Dent
- Harvey Dent/Two-Face - At the beginning of the game he flips a coin. If it lands on heads he aligns himself with the GCPD and if it lands on tails he aligns himself with The Gallery of Rogues. Before each vote he nominates two players to vote for and flips a coin whilst assigning a respective coin face to each player. Whichever side it lands on has it’s respective player voted for execution by Harvey Dent/Two-Face. He must do this before he votes. He can nominate people one night in advance for assurance that his message will be read in time.

- The player afflicted with this loses their previous abilities and gains the abilities of Clayface.
