This course covers how to write C programs and will cover techniques on input and output, different types of operators, control structures, functions, arrays, pointers, characters and strings, formatted input/output, structures, and file processing.

C Programming is a 3-credit, online course consisting of 6 modules. Modules include an overview, topics, learning objectives, study materials, and activities. Module titles are listed below.
A C compiler program is required to create the programs needed to complete the course’s programming assignments. Specific instructions as to how to operate them will vary depending on the operating system of your computer; for example, Windows (IBM), IOS (Apple), and so on. If there are any questions on your specific system, please ask your mentor in Week 1.

Note that for each program there will be one file produced by the C compiler. The name of the file will be formatted as “filename.c”; in your file the designation “filename” will be replaced by the name you assign to the program.
The midterm exam is 2½ hours long and covers Modules 1, 2, and 3. It consists of 70 multiple-choice questions and 3 brief C program writing questions. The exam is a closed-book exam.

You are required to use the University's Online Proctor Service (OPS). All activities will receive a numerical grade of 0–100. You will receive a score of 0 for any work not submitted. Your final grade in the course will be a letter grade. Letter grade equivalents for numerical grades are as follows:
To receive credit for the course, you must earn a letter grade of C or better (for an area of study course) or D or better (for a course not in your area of study), based on the weighted average of all assigned course work (e.g., exams, assignments, discussion postings).
