EastWest Film Scoring Competition 2016

Registration is now closed. You may still create a composition to submit using the EastWest two-week free trial, or the computers in the Multimedia Workrooms.

Rules/Info:

• Licenses will be distributed by 9/24.

• Must use EastWest Sounds to create score to Going to School.

• Submit an .aiff or .wav file that is EXACTLY the same length as the film (so that syncing issues don’t occur) named [firstname]_[lastname].[aiff or wav] (ex/ hans_zimmer.aiff).

• No need for your submissions to be more than 16-bit, 44.1kHz.

• If you submit a new version of a score, simply add a number after your last name. The highest number will be the one that is judged. (So hans_zimmer3.aiff will be judged and hans_zimmer.aiff will not). Any naming discrepancies may cause the wrong score to be judged.

• Registration ends 9/22/16.

• Deadline is 11:59:59pm on 10/22/16.

FAQ:

Q: If I have access to more than three EastWest sound libraries, can I use more than three?

A: Yes! The multimedia workrooms and audio facilities in the Duderstadt Center all have the complete EastWest collection, so feel free to use those spaces as well. The limit of three sound libraries is just for temporary licenses.

Q: Are we allowing to use any other plugins for mixing the score? For example, can I EQ, compress, add reverb, and alter the sounds how I please? Or do I have to use the instruments as is?

A: For this year, mix however you want, but keep in mind that you’ll be judged on the composition, not the mixing!
