Incoming Kindergarteners

Kindergarten Summer 2024 Readiness Checklist - Please have future kindergarteners work on these activities to prepare them for the first day of class. :)

Incoming 1st Graders

1st Grade Summer Work Packet 

The packet is due on the first day of school. :)

Math: Log in to Khan Academy with your Student Google account and complete 100 minutes (~10 minutes per week). Khan Academy (Log In Instructions - Please email Mr. McNeil for UserName/Password info)  

Incoming 2nd Graders

Reading: 2nd Grade Summer Packet due on the first day of 2nd grade.

Math: Log in to MobyMax with your Student Google account and complete 150 minutes (~15 minutes per week).https://www.mobymax.com/signin  (If it asks for school code, it is az2690) 

Incoming 3rd Graders

Reading: Pick 1 fiction book from the list on this site: 3rd grade reading books for children aged 8-9

                Students will also need to pick one nonfiction book of their own choosing, NOT from the link.

                All reports must be submitted in the first week of school.

Math: Learn and master addition and subtraction facts, including knowing how to borrow (regroup).  Practice multiplication facts to 12. Log in to MobyMax with your Student Google account and complete 150 minutes (~15 minutes per week).https://www.mobymax.com/signin  (If it asks for school code, it is az2690)  


Incoming 4th Graders

Reading: Pick 2 chapter books and read them. Write a 1-page summary for each book (2 pages total).Complete Book Report for each book in Google Docs.

 Suggestions: 4th grade reading books for children aged 9-10 (Do not read Wonder! We will read during the school year)

Math: Learn and master multiplication facts to 12 x 12’s

Incoming 5th Graders

Reading: Pick 2 books from list on this site: 5th grade reading books for children aged 10-11
Write a 1 page summary of each book. (2 pages total)
Complete Book Report for each book in Google Docs.

Math: Log in to Khan Academy with your Student Google account and complete 300 minutes (~30 minutes per week) of practice activities. Video minutes will not count towards the 300 total. www.khanacademy.com 

 

Incoming 6th Graders

Reading: Read ONE book of your choosing. Be prepared to write a 6-sentence summary of this book in class the first week of school. The book must be one you have NEVER read before, and at a 6th-grade/11-year-old level. Great summer suggestions can be found at Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Lists. All summaries will be collected in the first week of school.  DO NOT EMAIL THE SUMMARY OVER THE SUMMER.

Math: Moby Max: 300 minutes

MobyMax is a program the Diocese has chosen to reinforce math skills.  Students are able to log in with their normal SSPP user name and password.  Students will need to log 300 focused minutes to receive credit for this assignment.  (If it asks for school code, it is az2690)

 **VERY IMPORTANT:  MobyMax automatically resets at the end of July.  The 300 minutes will need to be recorded before July 29th.  Mrs. Molina and myself will be running the report on July 30th, before MobyMax resets for the new school year. www.mobymax.com

Incoming 7th Graders

Reading:

1) My Brother Sam Is Dead by James Lincoln Collier and Christopher Collier

Math: You will be using MobyMax to complete your summer assignment.  The main focus for the summer are algebraic operations and integers.  Once you have completed the assigned lessons, continue working until you have completed your 300-minute requirement.  (If it asks for school code, it is az2690)

Please log in and make sure your assignments are waiting for you, if they are not please email Mrs Molina (kmolina@sspptucson.org).  The assignments for the summer will have a due date of 7/29!

1) Free Choice Novel (Must be at least 210 pages in length)
