K280 PAC E-Board Meeting Minutes
September 18, 2024
Called to order at: 9:00 am
In attendance: Barrett, Gary, Jessica, Nikki, Angela, Mile, Joanna, Stacy, Sisi, Justica, Emily
- POINT
- We will be using a new platform for volunteers called POINT
- Stacy will be the Volunteer Coordinator
- Upcoming events
- In person PAC meeting 9/20
- It was agreed that coffee and donuts will be provided at the meeting; Angela volunteered to pick up the coffee and donuts
- Attendees will be asked to fill out sign in sheets with their names and e-mail addresses
- Movie Night - Saturday, 10/19
- Proposed time frame of 2:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
- Possible movie options include Inside Out, Trolls 3, or an age appropriate Halloween themed movie
- Stacy will coordinate volunteers that will help with concessions and merchandise
- We discussed the possibility of kids being invited to attend Movie Night in costume as well as possibly distributing candy to kids
- Holiday Market in December
- Virtual or in person?
- Fundraiser or community event?
- Pie sale fundraiser in November
- Barrett proposed holding a pie sale the week of Thanksgiving
- Parents would order pies in advance and pick up their pie order outside of the school building at the end of one or two designated school days the week of Thanksgiving
- Nikki volunteered to look into a company that can provide the pies
- Gym Day during the winter
- Would have to take place on a Sunday afternoon
- Gary confirmed that it’s possible to obtain a permit for the gym
- Winter Carnival?
- Heritage Day/Book Fair in March
- Picture Day- October?
- Will be held over two days
- Stomping Ground Photo will be hired to do the school photos, will respond to Gary within two business days of today’s date
- Volunteers are needed for Picture Day
- Spring Carnival with PS 10 on a Saturday in May
- We need a K280 liaison for this event, Nikki is a maybe
- Halloween Parade?
- Justica and Emily proposed arranging for the students to do a Halloween Parade at school
- Costumes will be optional and parents can attend
- Gary noted that some families may have concerns about their children participating in Halloween-themed activities/events at the school
- Cool Culture card
- Barrett will reapply for the Cool Culture card program
- It was agreed that the PAC funds will cover half of the cost
- Estimated total cost is $3,000
- Temporary barrier for library
- Barrett inquired about installing a temporary divider/barrier for the library on the teacher’s side that is approximately six feet tall
- Angela will assist with researching possible options for purchase
- Finance Update
- The PAC has a starting balance of over $24,000 this year
- $13,000 from family donations
- Nearly $18,000 from sales fundraising/merchandise
- $17,000 from events
- PAC raised a total of $51,000 last year
- $7,000 was spent on staff appreciation
- $6,000 was spent on legacy gifts
- Goals
- Grow expense lines
- Continue brainstorming ideas for events
- A budget approval form will be presented at the PAC meeting on Friday, 9/20
- Anticipated fund balance for 6/30/24 is $40,000
- New Merchandise
- T-shirts, sweatshirts, totes, fanny packs, water bottles, stickers (waterproof)
- Nikki volunteered to research options, including Spectrum Design, for new merchandise
