Thousands of us have objected to the development of the Hondo tower which is being bulldozed through council, but the council is still minded to grant permission. Please help us remind them of their duties to their constituents and let them know what you think of this development.

I am a Lambeth resident - my address is <<address>>.
I am writing about planning application 20/01347/FUL - the re-development of 20-24 Pope's Road.
The 19-storey is out of proportion with the rest of Brixton. The developer's images show that it overshadows Brixton from all directions. The building is generic and undistinctive - in fact, Helen Hayes MP has said "The design of the building is not distinctive, it is indistinguishable from many other tall buildings across London. As such, it does not add to or enhance the character of the historic environment in central Brixton, or provide any expression of the uniqueness and diversity of the local community."
Historic England have objected to the design, "On the basis of the harm they would cause to the significance of the Brixton Conservation Area. The development would markedly detract from the strong sense of place that Brixton already has."
Given the current massive shift to work-from-home, the developer is unlikely to be able to fill 17 storeys of office space. The building is likely to mostly sit empty.
My understanding is that the application has received 707 objections and only 4 supporting submissions. The development is not wanted or needed in Brixton.
There are better ways to make public realm improvements than to allow an unnecessary, out-of-proportion development which won't even be used to capacity.
