‘A Painter’s Party’, Gloucester Citizen, 26 April 1924

Fitzjohns Avenue, Hampstead, occupies a position scarcely less important than Cheyne Walk in the list of Londons interesting streets. Famous people by the score have lived there during the last fifty years. Mr. de Lazlo [sic], the celebrated painter, has a fine house and studio in Fitzjohns Avenue. His rooms are full of art treasures and relics of celebrities who have sat to him for their portraits. Royalty has conferred many honours upon him, and he particularly values a number of gifts made to him by the late King Edward. Mr. de Lazlo gave a delightful informal party in his studio yesterday afternoon. It was attended by many prominent society, literary and theatrical people, and over the teacups one heard a good deal about the Empire Ball, which Miss Olga Nethersole is organising for the League of Health. It will take place next Wednesday at Lord Leverhnlmes house, and Mr. de Lazlo has promised to paint the portrait of the best-dressed woman in the Empire Pageant [13294], which will be a leading feature of the Ball.
